This watch hides its secrets behind its stainless steel case. A simple push on the side crown reveals data on the small digital display at the top of its sapphire crystal-protected dial. The ScanWatch is in fact the the latest in connected watches<\/strong> proposed by Withings<\/a>. The French company has once again increased its range of features to present health monitoring<\/a>medically approved.<\/p>\n

In actual fact, this connected watch primarily monitors the its wearer's heartbeat<\/strong>. Fitted with sensors, its first function is to detect the risk of atrial fibrillation, which can lead to a stroke. It performs a medical-grade ECG. As well as detecting any arrhythmias, the ScanWatch can monitor blood oxygen saturation levels on demand, from home, via the built-in SpO2 sensor. With your arm resting on an armrest, all you have to do is turn the crown to carry out your check-up. What's more, the ScanWatch measures heart rate both day and night. All of which contribute to the establishment of a health check-up<\/strong> available on the dedicated application.<\/p>\n

Setting up the Health Mate application is child's play, whether on iOS or Android. Once you've entered your weight, height and age, the application lists all the measurements you've taken on your computer. an explicit dashboard<\/strong>e, which you can even share and forward to your doctor for a medical appointment if necessary.<\/p>\n

You can monitor the quality of your sleep, with a breakdown of the sleep phases<\/strong> It also analyses heart rates, which should slow down during sleep. Already medically certified for its cardiac measurements, the ScanWatch is currently being examined for validation of its sleep apnoea control.<\/p>\n

While monitoring the wearer's heartbeat is the main advantage of this health-oriented connected watch, it also provides a multisport follow-up<\/strong>. The dedicated application's dashboard provides a summary of the day's activities, from simple walking to cycling, or simply the number of flights of stairs climbed. There are a few bugs in this respect, such as the detection of a sport not practised by the wearer, but an update is all that's needed to set the activities straight.<\/p>\n

As a connected watch, the ScanWatch also makes it possible to note down text messages received on its small digital dial after an alert via a gentle vibration, as well as call notifications received on the phone. But communication is not its strong point, and neither is sports tracking. Especially as it has no built-in GPS.<\/p>\n

Rather discreet and light<\/strong> Compared to traditional connected watches, it is officially presented by Withings as having a battery life of one month. In truth, wearing the smallest version of the ScanWatch leaves us sceptical about this claimed battery life. With a 38-millimetre screen and a de facto smaller built-in battery than the 42-millimetre version, this connected watch already had only 37% of battery life after 7 days. However, it charges quickly on the dedicated cradle, once plugged in via the USB port.<\/p>\n

Far from being a model of connected watch dedicated to sportsmen and women, this watch fulfils its primary mission, namely health monitoring, starting with heart rate control.<\/p>\n
