The second wave of the covid pandemic sweeping across Europe is expected to result in <strong>a fall in passenger traffic of between 65% and 70% over the whole of 2020<\/strong>. Previous forecasts were still betting on a \"limited\" fall to 63% over the full year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the figures released by the Group, passenger traffic fell between January and September by 66.3 % compared with the same period in 2019. This translates into a total of 27.8 million passengers over the first nine months. Turnover has also been halved since the start of the year.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #a71f31;\">The best resilience for traffic to French overseas departments and territories\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>By detailing traffic trends over the first three quarters, <strong>intercontinental traffic was down 68.0%<\/strong>. North America recorded the sharpest fall, down 76.8 %, followed by Asia-Pacific, down 75.7 %. The Middle East fell by 68.0 %, Latin America by 66.3 % and Africa by 64.5 %.<\/p>\n<p>Only the <strong>French overseas departments and territories limit the damage slightly<\/strong> with passenger traffic down 45.1 %.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In Europe excluding France, the fall was 68.4 1TP3Q<\/strong> while <strong>domestic traffic fell by 55.6 % between January and September.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The number of connecting passengers fell by 65.4 %<\/strong>. The correspondence rate stood at 23.4 1TP3Q, up 0.9 points on the first 9 months of 2019. <strong>The load factor fell by 14.6 points to 72.1 %<\/strong>. The number of aircraft movements (236,433) was down 56.8 1TP3Q.<\/p>\n<p>According to Augustin de Romanet, Chairman and CEO of A\u00e9roports de Paris-Groupe ADP, <strong>traffic will not return to its 2019 level, at best by 2024, at worst by 2027...<\/strong> In other words, passenger traffic will be set back five to eight years.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Passenger traffic could finally fall to 70% in 2020.
