On Wednesday evening, the President of the French Republic made official a measure of reconfinement<\/strong>which applies in France<\/strong> since 29th October<\/strong> in the evening, and until At least 1 December<\/strong>. An update will be given in a fortnight' time to reassess the situation. Since Friday thecertificate<\/strong><\/a> made a one-way trip to limit travel to one hour and one kilometre, and for the purposes of professional reasons<\/strong> or medical care, assistance for a relative, shopping or 'fresh air' close to home. Visit travel between regions is prohibited<\/strong>But business travel is tolerated. In fact, the French Transport Minister told LCI on Thursday morning: \"\u00a0you can get to work, whether your work is near or far, and you can travel from one place to another if you have a compelling reason to do so<\/em>\" like a business trip. \"\u00a0The principle during confinement is that you only travel for essential journeys, for compelling reasons, and in particular for professional reasons<\/strong>and there is no 100 km rule<\/em>\" continued Jean-Baptiste Djebbari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For his part, Emmanuel Macron stressed that the European Union's internal borders remain open: \"\u00a0Our internal borders within the European area will remain open<\/strong> and, with a few exceptions, external borders will remain closed<\/em>\" said Emmanuel Macron. \"\u00a0Of course, French citizens abroad will remain free to return to France. In ports<\/strong> and airports<\/strong> for international travel<\/strong>and rapid tests<\/a> mandatory<\/strong> will be deployed for all arrivals. No traveller should be allowed to enter Europe without being certain that they are not a carrier of the virus.<\/em>\" added the Chairman.<\/p>\n

The details of this measure were spelled out by the government late on Thursday afternoon. In particular, the Prime Minister indicated that public transport<\/strong> were maintained. The hotels<\/strong> escape mandatory closure, but their restaurants<\/strong> will have to close their doors. The Minister for Employment insisted: \"\u00a0the teleworking<\/strong> is not an option<\/em>\" It must be increased to 100% for employees who can carry out all of their tasks remotely - adding that \".\u00a0audio and video meetings video-conferencing<\/a> <\/strong>must be the rule<\/em>\" .<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
