While mobile ticketing is still groping its way through the Ile-de-France transport system - despite initiatives launched on smartphones and, more recently, the \"SMS Ticket Bus\" tested in response to health crisis<\/a> - the RATP<\/strong> is taking a new step by opting for external growth. The urban mobility specialist has just acquired the mapping specialist, Mappy<\/strong>which lists 13 modes of transport and 25 mobility operators, and is presented as the the third largest player in the French market<\/strong>. Since 1st November<\/strong>the human and technological resources of Mappy<\/strong> have joined the group RATP<\/strong>with the ambition of making it the French leader in the MaaS<\/strong> (\"\u00a0Mobility as a Service<\/em>\" ). \" We are very proud to be selling this asset to the RATP group, which with this agreement becomes a long-term strategic partner of the Solocal group.<\/em> \"explains Pierre Danon, Chairman and CEO of Solocal. He added: \" Today, Mappy is one of France's leading multimodal mobility providers, and we know that it is in good hands when it comes to developing your MaaS mobility services project<\/strong>. This sale is in line with our strategy of refocusing on our strategic businesses. Mappy will continue to be the mapping solution and route planner for our PagesJaunes site, and our customers will continue to benefit from preferential visibility on the Mappy medium.<\/em> \".<\/p>\n

An \"everyday companion\" from 2021<\/h3>\n

For the two partners, the course has already been set: \" combine their services in a single application and include the possibility of booking and paying for journeys directly from a mobile phone<\/em> \"says the management of the RATP group. And the concrete benefits for users should not be long in coming. From next year, RATP is set to launch a brand new \"everyday companion\", enabling users on the network to \u00cele-de-France<\/strong> from book<\/strong> and pay for travel<\/strong>. A complete map of the region, a pedestrian and cycle GPS and the addresses of local businesses will also be integrated into the new tool. Visit national level<\/strong>the RATP group is planning to enhance its Mappy offering with a multimodal comparator<\/strong> referencing new partners, and expanding to include car, park-and-ride and public transport services. Here too, the reservation<\/strong> and the payment<\/strong> will be integrated.<\/p>\n

Other mergers in progress<\/h3>\n

The integration of Mappy by the RATP group is not the first time that the worlds of mobility and cartography have come together. In mid-October, TomTom<\/strong> and Uber<\/strong> <\/a>have already signed up to a new partnership aimed at refining their respective data sets, thereby improving the user experience with greater responsiveness: \"\u00a0Uber's integration of TomTom's Maps data and APIs into its applications will ensure a seamless quality geolocation in over 10,000 cities<\/strong> around the world\".<\/em>Uber officials said at the time, adding: \"\u00a0TomTom regularly processes nearly two billion map modifications per month<\/strong>This will ensure that the maps are always up to date. Uber and TomTom will also work together to ensure that map updates reflect changes in the real world. Uber will report information from the field (new roads, changes in traffic direction, temporary closures, etc.) collected during journeys and deliveries. TomTom uses the updates transmitted by its trusted partners to provide its customers with increasingly accurate map data in real time.<\/em>.<\/p>\n

What's more, the MaaS market was already in turmoil a few weeks earlier with the partnership between Moovit<\/strong> and Cubic<\/strong>. Online ticketing, real-time information, push communication with passengers: the supplier of solutions dedicated to urban mobility and the Intel subsidiary are combining innovative technologies for payment and fare collection by mobile phone (Cubic) and the multimodal journey planner (Moovit). Objective: \"\u00a0allow people to pay for mobility services using a single application\".<\/em>According to Nir Erez, co-founder of Moovit, which covers 3,200 cities in 104 countries, including around 60 French cities. For its part, Cubic is present in a number of major cities in the United States.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
