Passenger traffic plunged by 40% in 2020 (*), impacted in particular by the closure of Orly from 31 March to 26 June, then by the second period of confinement. In between these shutdowns, the Group was able to enjoy a \"very good\" summer.\u00a0<em>acceptable<\/em>\u00a0\"and <strong>Christmas holidays\u00a0<em>satisfactory<\/em>\"\u00a0<\/strong> thanks to postponements linked to the closure of winter sports resorts and seaside destinations such as Mauritius, according to Marc Rochet, Chairman of Air Cara\u00efbes and French Bee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure financial stability until the recovery, the cargo business has been strengthened, a company-wide agreement has been signed to reduce wages by 10% in exchange for keeping the 1,100 employees in their jobs, and a \u20ac150m state-guaranteed loan (PGE) has been obtained by the entire Dubreuil group. To comply with these rules and help their customers, Air Cara\u00efbes and French Bee have opened a PCR testing laboratory at Orly in partnership with Biogroup and are offering Covid assistance free of charge on all their services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/controles-frontieres-couvre-feu-18h-20210114.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> yesterday's announcement by the government<\/a> who \"\u00a0<em>advises against travelling abroad<\/em>\u00a0\"As a result, Air Cara\u00efbes had gone back to a 7-day isolation period after a trip outside the European Union. <strong>a fill rate of 95%<\/strong> <strong>on the Dominican Republic<\/strong> with the ambition of adding flights for the February holidays. This rate amounts to 80% to the West Indies, 82% to Reunion and 70% to Tahiti (with one flight a week compared with 3 before the pandemic).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-une-reprise-plus-que-timide-du-trafic-affaires\">A more than timid recovery in business traffic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\"\u00a0<em>In 2020, we saw<strong> the disappearance of all business traffic<\/strong> on the French West Indies and R\u00e9union. Airlines that focus heavily on business class are going to have a hard time coping.<\/em>r\", says Marc Rochet, who does not expect this segment to return to normal for another two or three years. He adds: \"Local entrepreneurs and SMEs in the West Indies and Indian Ocean have started travelling again, unlike business travellers from major international groups, for whom travel bans are still in place\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ouverture-du-paris-new-york-de-french-bee-avant-l-ete\">French Bee's Paris-New York service to open before summer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the airline group is confident of recovery, with the opening before the summer of<strong> daily flights <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/orly-new-york-corsair-20190911.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Orly-New York<\/a><\/strong> operated by French Bee at Newark airport. For this project, which will benefit from the delivery of a new Airbus A350-1000 in April, the carrier is counting on the new Biden administration's forthcoming reopening of travel opportunities in the United States. The route should also benefit from the cessation of transatlantic flights by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/norwegian-sans-long-courriers-20210115.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> its low-cost competitor Norwegian<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French Bee also hopes to<strong> the return of its San Francisco service<\/strong> on its Polynesia route. These aircraft, equipped with a Premium Eco cabin, will appeal to companies looking for savings on business travel in these difficult economic times. <em>\"We have managed to reduce fares to Tahiti and Reunion by 15% with French Bee.<\/em>\" said the low-cost airline's Chairman.
