{"id":105677,"date":"2021-02-17T23:03:22","date_gmt":"2021-02-17T22:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=105677"},"modified":"2021-04-01T11:06:26","modified_gmt":"2021-04-01T09:06:26","slug":"etihad-gulf-air-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/etihad-gulf-air-agreement","title":{"rendered":"Strategic agreement confirmed between Etihad and Gulf Air"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gulf Air<\/strong>the national airline of the Kingdom of <strong>Bahrain<\/strong>and <strong>Etihad Airways<\/strong>the national airline of the <strong>United Arab Emirates<\/strong>have just signed a <strong>strategic business cooperation agreement<\/strong> to deepen their partnership between Bahrain and Abu Dhabi and beyond their respective hubs.<\/p>\n<p>Subject to government and regulatory approvals, the new agreement redefines the working framework between the two carriers. They will be able to <strong>deepening and broadening commercial cooperation<\/strong>by reinforcing the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the airlines in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>This cooperation will take place in stages. In the first phase, between now and <strong>June 2021<\/strong>The scope of the partners' codeshare agreement will be considerably extended. Gulf Air and Etihad will be able to <strong>offer up to 30 additional combined destinations beyond their respective hubs<\/strong>. The new destinations include the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #a71f31;\">An Abu Dhabi-Bahrain airlift<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The partners will also improve and strengthen the <strong>connectivity on the Bahrain-Abu Dhabi route.<\/strong> This includes connecting slots at each of the partners' hubs. The partners will also be improving their services for high-contribution customers of <strong>Falconflyer<\/strong> and <strong>Etihad Guest<\/strong>. They will benefit from<strong>reciprocal access to trade fairs <\/strong>on the hubs and a <strong>greater recognition of their status<\/strong>. The two carriers will also be working on a more uniform on-board product. This harmonisation will cover sales classes, fare policy and baggage.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, the agreement will enable both Etihad and Gulf Air to strengthen their appeal to passengers. And to stand up better to the region's two mega-carriers, <strong>Emirates<\/strong> and <strong>Qatar Airways<\/strong>.<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/gulf-air-boutique-airline-20190114.html\/\">Gulf Air<\/a><\/strong> has been looking for a new lease of life for a number of years. The airline has repositioned itself as a 'niche' carrier from its hub in Bahrain. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/annulations-commandes-airbus-etihad-20190220.html\/\"><strong>Etihad<\/strong><\/a> is in the throes of a serious financial crisis. This has resulted in a substantial reduction in its fleet and network.
