This initiative, launched by the UN agency in October 2019 with the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Expedia as partners, has so far brought together just over <strong>500 hotels in Thailand<\/strong>. These include the Anantara resorts, the Courtyard and the JW Marriott in Bangkok, the Moderna by Fraser urban residence and the Sukosol hotel chain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership of one of the world's leading hotel groups<\/strong> s commitment to responsible practices, community resilience and heritage conservation goes even further. This strategic tripartite agreement between Accor, Expedia and the UN agency means that <strong>3,358 hotels in 96 countries<\/strong> to support environmental sustainability around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\"<em>The UNESCO Commitment to Sustainable Tourism aims to <strong>turning words into action<\/strong> and demonstrates our growing commitment to working closely with the hotel industry to raise awareness and practice of environmental and sustainable tourism around the world. Everyone must play their part in promoting sustainable tourism and helping to preserve travel destinations.<\/em>\"said Zuhairah Washington, Senior Vice President, Strategic Accounts, Expedia Group.<\/p>\n<p>With environmental awareness on the rise, particularly among the new generations of travellers, but also within companies through their CSR policies, sustainable development is a key issue. <strong>one of the key issues for the future of the travel industry<\/strong>. \"<em>We have a responsibility to offer our customers sustainable and tangible solutions to reduce the impact of the hotel sector on the environment.<\/em>said Markus Keller, Senior Vice President Sales &amp; Distribution at Accor. <em>We are committed to accelerating our efforts, which is why we are joining the UNESCO Commitment to Sustainable Tourism, in partnership with Expedia Group.<\/em>\u00a0\"<\/p>\n<p>Accor's commitments include the removal of all single-use plastic items from its hotels by 2022 and the initiatives taken as part of its <strong>programme <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/planet-21-la-feuille-de-route-daccor-vers-une-hotellerie-durable-20120416.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Planet 21<\/strong><\/a>launched in 2011, which already set concrete targets for local sourcing, diversity and the management of water, energy and waste.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accor -
