The load factor has fallen sharply...<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vapo-content\" style=\"display:none\"><p><strong>480 million passengers by 2020<\/strong> against <strong>927 million one year earlier<\/strong> on American airlines. <strong>Of which only 36 million on international routes<\/strong>. This compares with 115.4 million passengers the previous year. The covid has of course had a devastating effect on air transport in the United States, if the statistics published by the US Department of Transportation are anything to go by.<\/p>\n<p>American airlines have<strong> 4.72 million domestic passenger flights<\/strong> over the whole of 2020. <strong>A fall of 41 %<\/strong> compared with 7.94 million flights in 2019. The load factor fell dramatically on domestic flights. It reached 54% in the first 11 months of 2020 compared with 85 % in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>And yet there are a few \"good\" surprises in this gloomy picture for 2020. Lower airline activity has led to a significant reduction in aircraft delays.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #a71f31;\">Best punctuality figures since 1995<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With flights stabilising and then ramping up from May 2020, <strong>American air transport has seen eight consecutive months of record punctuality rates<\/strong> on arrival. This allows airlines to display <strong>the highest rates for 25 years<\/strong>. From June to November, the percentage of flights arriving on time even exceeded 90 %. This was particularly the case in September, when a record 92.9% of flights arrived on time.<\/p>\n<p>Over the year as a whole, the <strong>Arrival punctuality rate reached 84.5 %<\/strong>. In December, it even reached 87.2%, almost two points above the figure for December 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Among the most successful companies, <strong>Southwest is the most punctual, with 95.2% of flights arriving on time<\/strong> (October 2020 figures). <strong>Next come Delta Air Lines with 93.4% and Alaska Airlines with 91.9%.<\/strong>. Among the major American airports, <strong>Dallas Fort Worth puts in worst performance<\/strong> with a punctuality of 81%, followed by Miami with 88.7%. <strong>Boston, Atlanta and New York JFK<\/strong> on the other hand posted the best results, with punctuality rates of 95%, 94.7% and 94.3% respectively.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div
