There is also talk of more virulent circulation of the Brazilian virus in the country. Chile has gone from 995,000 cases on 31 March to 1.043 million on 7 April. That's an average of 6,500 cases a day, compared with 2,000 during the second wave in September 2020.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #a71f31;\">Ban on non-resident foreign visitors<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The country has therefore decided on a <strong>new turn of screw<\/strong>. This begins with a restriction on the movements of its citizens. According to Reuters, 80% of the country's 19 million inhabitants, including all the major cities, are under strict confinement. Two regions have also been totally isolated.<\/p>\n<p>Since 5 April, non-resident foreign travellers have also been banned from entering Chile. <strong>For travellers who are still authorised, compulsory quarantine is imposed, including five days in a transit establishment designated by the government.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A large number of airlines have suspended their flights. These include <strong>British Airways <\/strong>or<strong>Aerolineas Argentinas<\/strong>. The country's main carrier <strong>LATAM<\/strong>with over 50% of international air capacity, has significantly reduced its presence. The company retains only a few international destinations, including <strong>Madrid<\/strong>its only stopover in Europe since the start of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>From Europe, <strong>Air France-KLM<\/strong> also continues to link <strong>Paris to Santiago<\/strong> by non-stop flight from CDG (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) or via Amsterdam (Friday and Saturday). Please note that<strong>Iberia<\/strong> also maintains its flights to Santiago on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vapo-widget\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chile went into a full month of lockdown from April 5th.
