China: splendid isolation<\/span><\/h2>\n

China was the first to be hit by the Covid-19 pandemic<\/strong>. But it is also officially the first to emerge from the health crisis <\/strong>thanks to drastic measures unheard of elsewhere, including total control of its population's movements through confinement and intrusive technologies.<\/p>\n

This success against the pandemic has enabled China to return to almost normal life. And to be the only nation in the world to record GDP growth in 2020<\/strong>.
