It would be hard to find a hotel brand better suited to business travel than InterCity Hotels. In its development, it is focusing on hotels that are always within walking distance of the town's train station or airport<\/strong>. A logical direction for this mid-range 'plus' brand, launched in 1987 by Deutsche Bahn in partnership with Steigenberger, recently renamed Deutsche Hospitality<\/a> which became the sole owner of InterCity in 2004.<\/p>\n

This target was reached again in Budapest<\/strong>. Located right next to the Hungarian capital's main railway station, Keleti, InterCity's new hotel...<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It would be hard to find a hotel brand better suited to business travel than InterCity Hotels. In its development, it is focusing on hotels that are always within walking distance of the town's train station or airport<\/strong>. A logical direction for this mid-range 'plus' brand, launched in 1987 by Deutsche Bahn in partnership with Steigenberger, recently renamed Deutsche Hospitality<\/a> which became the sole owner of InterCity in 2004.<\/p>\n

This target was reached again in Budapest<\/strong>. Located right next to the Hungarian capital's main railway station, Keleti, InterCity's new hotel has 312 rooms, a Bistro bar-restaurant and, naturally for this business-oriented brand, a conference area with five meeting rooms for up to 200 people.<\/p>\n

In line with the Green Meeting concept developed by the brand, the ecological footprint of events is reduced to a minimum<\/strong>Their CO2 impact is fully offset. Other brand fundamentals to be rolled out in Budapest: an application that serves as a digital room key and enables paperless check in\/check out<\/strong>a FreeCityTicket offered by the hotel allowing guests to use the city's public transport system free of charge, or a contemporary interior design<\/strong> designed by Milan architect Matteo Thun for all the new InterCity Hotels.<\/p>\n

These are all elements that business travellers will be able to find in the brand's future developments. With around forty hotels, InterCity has made a few forays into distant lands - China, Oman, Dubai and Saudi Arabia - but above all covers most of Germany's major cities<\/strong>. It is now beginning to expand its footprint in Germany's neighbouring countries, notably in Austria - with a hotel near Vienna West station and a more recent one in Graz - but also in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

After a first hotel in Enschede, the brand is preparing to land this year Amsterdam Schiphol airport<\/strong> with a 280-room hotel just a five-minute walk from the KLM hub. Further developments are planned for the Netherlands in 2023, with a hotel in the heart of Leiden and another in Breda, in a development combining offices, shops and restaurants. \"The Netherlands is an important market for our global expansion strategy, and IntercityHotel offers one of the greatest growth potentials among our brands.<\/em>\"said Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality.<\/p>\n

InterCity has not forgotten its origins, however, and will continue to expand in Germany, particularly in Karlsruhe<\/strong> with a 194-room hotel and four meeting rooms due to open in the second quarter of 2023 in the Ka Drei building complex. The hotel will, of course, be right next to the town's railway station.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
