Too much day-to-day tourism<\/span><\/h3>\n

In 2019, the last 'normal' year for tourism, the Serenissima welcomed 5.52 million tourists, generating almost 10 million overnight stays<\/strong>. On this figure, 4.7 million came from abroad, representing a market share of 86.7%<\/strong>. But the total number of visitors to the city is estimated at over 20 million a year. The remaining 14.5 million come from the surrounding area or from cruise ships. Cruise ships, for example, contribute 1.6 million visitors a year. But they spend very little in the city.
