Since 2015, the group Accor<\/a> has conquered the Swiss market<\/strong> by taking over two of Switzerland's most emblematic hotel brands. The acquisition of Raffles<\/a> in 2016 brought<\/strong> brand into Accor's portfolio Swiss\u00f4tel. <\/strong>Visit 2018, <\/strong>the Group had also finalised the buyback <\/strong>from M\u00f6venpick Hotels & Resorts<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In Switzerland, the chain has a portfolio of 77 establishments<\/strong> on all its brands. Its two 'pure' Swiss brands, however, remain under-represented. M\u00f6venpick manages six establishments and Swiss\u00f4tel one hotel.<\/strong>. The Group has recently taken the decision to close its two sites in Basel and Zurich<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Yet Switzerland remains a market with a bright future, according to Duncan O'Rourke, Accor Group Director for Northern Europe<\/strong>. \"Switzerland is a very interesting market for us, and we are always on the lookout for interesting opportunities to drive the strategic development of our brands\", he said in an interview with the AWP business news service.<\/p>\n

The group plans to add around forty hotels, 10 to 15 of which are expected to be new builds.<\/strong>. Investments in Switzerland will be diversified: \"our portfolio will continue to include urban and leisure destinations\", explained the Director for Northern Europe in an interview with AWP.<\/p>\n

As a result, many existing establishments will come under the M\u00f6venpick, Swiss\u00f4tel or Pullman brands<\/strong>. According to Duncan O'Rourke, the the 4\/5 star segment still has the best chance of prospering<\/strong> in the Confederation.<\/p>\n

Being part of a group such as Accor also enables us to benefit from economies of scale. And to promote the establishments globally, including through loyalty programmes. According to AWP's Director for Northern Europe, this would help to lower prices.<\/p>\n

In the spring, the group Accor<\/span> opened the Swiss\u00f4tel Bern Kursaal<\/strong>. At September<\/strong> will follow the M\u00f6venpick Hotel Basel<\/strong>. In the leisure sector, the Group plans to open a M\u00f6venpick Resort hotel in Savognin in 2023 and in Disentis in Graub\u00fcnden in 2024.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

The French Accor group has big ambitions for the Swiss market: the hotel chain recently announced its intention to open between 30 and 40 establishments over the next two years. In an interview with the Swiss business news agency AWP, the chain confirmed its interest in the Swiss
