It took more than a year and a half for the Thai government to finally open up Thailand to foreign visitors<\/strong>. The opening is taking place in stages. It actually began last July. At that time, foreign travellers were once again allowed to stay on the island of Phuket without quarantine. However, the constraints associated with the so-called \"Phuket sandbox\" were not convincing. The island will have attracted fewer than 50,000 visitors over three and a half months<\/strong>A far cry from the million tourists a month to which it is accustomed.<\/p>\n

The authorities have obviously drawn the necessary conclusions. The opening on 1 November of 17 Thai provinces, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chonburi (Pattaya)<\/strong>It simplifies a number of formalities. People from 42 countries can once again come to the<\/strong>. This includes most European Union countries (including France and Belgium) as well as Switzerland. Luxembourg is not currently on the list.<\/p>\n

The new rules apply to visitors who have spent at least 21 days in one of the authorised countries before entering Thailand and who only for arrivals by air<\/strong>. A QR code must be included, which acts as an entry certificate and will be available from 1 November at https:\/\/tp.consular.go.th\/. This will enable you to obtain a visa.<\/strong><\/p>\n
