At a time when the United States has just lifted the last health restrictions with dropping the requirement for a negative test<\/a> Upon entering the country, travellers to New York will find a hotel scene in full swing. That's for sure, the pandemic has been fatal for some establishments<\/strong> such as the Gramercy Park<\/strong>This Renaissance Revival-style hotel, home to stars such as David Bowie, Bono and the Rolling Stones, closed its doors at the end of 2020. This Renaissance Revival-style hotel, which opened in 1925, is almost a hundred years old. As well as welcoming a plethora of artists and intellectuals in the 70s and 80s, it hosted Humphrey Bogart's first pre-war wedding and the Kennedy family, when JFK was still in his shorts.<\/p>\n

Another victim of the health crisis, another trendy hotel, the NoMad<\/strong>will cease operations in spring 2021, but will rise from the ashes this summer<\/strong> to become the Soho House hotel-club. Called The Ned, it will offer no less than 252 rooms, nine bars and restaurants, a spa and a rooftop terrace with swimming pool!<\/p>\n

While the brands of the major hotel groups continue to expand in the city, such as IHG's Hotel Indigo, which expects to open three new hotels in New York this year, it's the luxury hotels that really drive the new york scene<\/strong>. Recently, the Hard Rock Hotel brand moved into the heart of Manhattan, in Midtown, with a 446-room hotel. In winter, it will be a Virgin Hotel<\/a> which will open its doors at the corner of Broadway and 29th Street, in the NoMad district, with a property featuring 463 rooms, meeting rooms and a friendly, lively space, the Commons Club, in addition to a new concept, The Pool Club.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, it is also in this lively district that the prestigious brand Ritz-Carlton <\/strong>will be setting up a contemporary hotel with 250 rooms, all with views of the city skyline, and enhanced by culinary venues designed by Michelin-starred chef Jos\u00e9 Andres and a rooftop bar. In addition to a Club Lounge, business travellers will also find two floors dedicated to meetings and events, complete with a private outdoor terrace.<\/p>\n

If the Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad will soon be welcoming its first customers, several top-of-the-range lifestyle hotels had already opened their doors last year<\/strong> such as the Civilian in the Theater District, the Moore Hotel in Chelsea, with its rooftop wine bar, and the Ace Hotel in Brooklyn. On the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge, in Lower Manhattan, Casa Cipriani, New York's version of the Venetian palace, has taken its place in an iconic building, the Battery Maritime Building at The Seaport, transformed into a 47-room private hotel-club. Another development last autumn was that of a fast-expanding luxury brand, Pendry<\/a>This 164-room and suite hotel, a member of the LVX Collection, is located in Manhattan West, New York.
