This is the second best performance in the world, just behind the South Pacific region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared with 2019, seat capacity on 5 September was still 28.5% lower. A figure which shows that South-East Asia is still far from having completed its convalescence...<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vapo-content\" style=\"display:none\">\n<p>Airline capacity analysis website OAG has been confirming this for some weeks now: South-East Asia is now the fastest-growing region for air transport in terms of the number of seats year on year. For example, if we look at the first week of September 2022 compared with 2021, <strong>the number of seats is up by almost 200%<\/strong>. This is the second best performance in the world, just behind the South Pacific region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared with 2019, seat capacity on 5 September was still 28.5% lower. A figure which shows that South-East Asia is still far from having completed its convalescence. However, as long as China continues to apply its \"Zero Covid\" policy, there is little prospect of a strong recovery in air traffic. The quarantine of the city of Chengdu due to cases of Covid has resulted in a total reduction in seat capacity of 14% from one week to the next, according to OAG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the signs of a recovery in South-East Asia have been multiplying for several weeks. Visit<strong> terminal 4 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/aeroport-singapour-20220523.html\/\">Singapore<\/a><\/strong> reopens this September, <strong>Thai Airways<\/strong> announces more frequencies in Europe, <strong>Air AsiaX<\/strong> resumes flights to Australia, while <strong>Cebu Pacific<\/strong> in the Philippines has just taken over the Manila-Bangkok and Manila-Brunei routes. <strong>Vietnam Airlines<\/strong> has also restored 80% to its international network, including 5 weekly flights from <strong>Paris<\/strong> \u00e0 <strong>Hanoi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/singapore-airlines-vietnam-airlines-20230214.html\/\" data-id=\"142703\">Singapore Airlines and Vietnam Airlines in cooperation mode<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-le-rebond-n-efface-pas-encore-la-perte-de-trafic-entre-2019-et-2022\"><span style=\"color: #a71f31;\">The rebound has not yet wiped out the loss of traffic between 2019 and 2022<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Preliminary traffic figures for July 2022 published by the Association of Asia-Pacific Airlines (AAPA) show that growth is becoming more robust in the region as international air passengers return. According to the association's figures, <strong>the number of international passengers carried increased fivefold between January and July 2022<\/strong> compared with 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asia recorded just 8.8 million passengers between January and July 2021, <strong>companies in Asia-Pacific accounted for almost 43 million of them for the same period in 2022<\/strong>. <strong>Average load factor<\/strong> of international passengers jumped 48 points to stand once again at<strong> 80%<\/strong>. A figure not seen since the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/asie-sud-est-trafic-passagers-2022-20230209.html\/\" data-id=\"141783\">South-East Asia: passenger traffic to pick up in 2022<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>Subhas Menon, <span class=\"il\">AAPA<\/span> Director General, commented on these figures. \"\u00a0<em><strong>The region's airlines are resuming flights to more destinations as economies reopen for business<\/strong> and international travel. If the number of international passengers carried by airlines in the first half of 2022 is 5 times higher than in 2021, <strong>a full recovery is far from certain<\/strong>. Traffic in July averaged only 34 % of the corresponding month before the pandemic.<\/em>\" . Especially as inflation and soaring fuel prices see prices soar. This can only hamper recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n<h3>A long-awaited return for Thai Airways International<\/h3>\n<p>Little by little, one of the biggest carriers in South East Asia, <strong>Thai Airways International<\/strong>is back in the black. The company has finally regained the financial health it needs to survive. The number of employees has been cut from 29,000 to 14,400, and the fleet reduced from 103 to 61 aircraft. As a result, Thai Airways International posted a second-quarter profit of \u20ac4.6 million, compared with a loss of \u20ac249 million for the same period in 2021. Thai's creditors have therefore just approved the company's new business plan.<\/p>\n<p>Thai Airways International will <strong>return to being one of the world's top 10 airlines<\/strong> according to the directors. And continue to regain global coverage. The company is once again present in Europe in <strong>8 cities<\/strong> of which <strong>Paris<\/strong>and Zurich. With the possibility of increasing the number of frequencies this winter to 10 weekly flights from the French capital.<\/p>\n<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vapo-widget\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Asia will not be making a comeback in 2022, and South-East Asia in particular.
