A survey of 1,000 UK professionals - 500 business travel decision-makers and 500 business travellers - was carried out between 25 and 29 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p>When asked about their forecasts for the <strong>next twelve months<\/strong>The majority of UK companies (68%) are expecting a <strong>substantial increase in travel expenditure<\/strong>50% or more. In fact, a large majority of travellers (78%) say they are more aware of the<strong>carbon footprint <\/strong>linked to their travel than ever before. According to American Express, no less than 79 % of British companies say they have become more concerned about the well-being of their employees when they travel. And this means greater flexibility for employees, who in one in three cases (31%) are now allowed to take their partner or a family member on a business trip, at little or no extra
