This translates into 94 million passengers. It is likely that this rate will be higher than 100% in September compared with 2019. This remarkable performance is due to <strong>the strong recovery towards North Africa<\/strong>. By the end of August, France had recorded a cumulative total of 38.94 million passengers travelling to its 26 EU partners. This represents an 8-month recovery rate of <strong>82,1%<\/strong> compared with 2019. In August, this rate reached 92.1%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-reprise-du-trafic-vers-l-allemagne-et-le-royaume-uni-a-la-traine\">Recovery in traffic to Germany and the UK lags behind<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cumulatively, if the<strong>Spain<\/strong> reached at the end of August <strong>90% of its 2019 level<\/strong>, l'<strong>Germany still lagging behind<\/strong> with a recovery rate of<strong> 60%<\/strong>. This situation is due to the <strong>dependence on business traffic<\/strong>which has continued to decline since the start of the year. There has also been a significant drop in frequencies between France and Germany. The schedule of Eurowings, Lufthansa's low-cost subsidiary, remains anaemic. Air France still lacks a number of routes to major cities such as Bremen and Leipzig. And routes such as Lyon-Stuttgart have disappeared altogether...<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/air-france-ete-afrique-20221129.html\/\" data-id=\"137071\">Air France prepares for summer in Africa<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside the EU, <strong>Turkey shows the strongest growth<\/strong>. At the end of August, passenger traffic from France had once again surpassed its 2019 level, at a rate of <strong>103,9%<\/strong>. In August, the catch-up rate was even 107.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By contrast, the other major non-EU destination, the<strong> United Kingdom, suffers from the same syndrome as Germany<\/strong>. The slow recovery in business traffic, added to the still visible consequences of Brexit on the UK, is weighing on traffic. At the end of August, traffic reached only <strong>64,6%<\/strong> its 2019 level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/afrique-centrale-occidentale-reprise-2022-20230102.html\/\" data-id=\"138893\">Central and West Africa, champion of air recovery in 2022<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/img-20220830-150133.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/img-20220830-150133.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-133195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/img-20220830-150133.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/img-20220830-150133-300x194-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Orly is one of the airports benefiting most from the recovery (photo: LC)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-l-asie-reste-toujours-le-grand-perdant-de-la-reprise\">Asia still the big loser in the recovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the intercontinental, <strong>At the end of August, passenger traffic in the Americas stood at 77.9%, with 8.24 million passengers.<\/strong>. But this is <strong>Canada with the best recovery rate<\/strong> to 81.6%. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">On the other hand, <strong>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/asie-sud-est-capacite-aerienne-20220906.html\/\">traffic with Asia<\/a><\/strong> <strong>(including the Middle East) remains sluggish<\/strong>. Admittedly, it recovered to 58.8% in August alone. But on a cumulative basis it represents only 47.4% of the total passenger traffic for 2019 between January and August. <strong>This rate will improve in the coming months with the recent reopenings of Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan.<\/strong> as well as the ramp-up of frequencies in Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/asie-accessible-20220923.html\/\" data-id=\"131957\">Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan in reopening mode<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The effect of business traffic at CDG, Lyon and Toulouse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In domestic transport and the French overseas departments and territories, the recovery is noticeable. <strong>On domestic routes, passenger traffic at the end of August reached 77.1% of its 2019 level<\/strong> and even 87.5% in August. That's 14 million passengers. <strong>In the French overseas departments and territories, the rate remains lower at 51.9% in cumulative terms over the first 8 months of 2022.<\/strong>. However, the Paris-La R\u00e9union route stands out, with passenger traffic surpassing that of 2019 (107.3%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And finally.., <strong>figures provided by the DGAC for airports<\/strong> confirm that they are still<strong> leisure travel, which generates most of the traffic<\/strong>. <strong>Beauvais, Marseille and Orly<\/strong> <strong>have the best recovery rates<\/strong>These were 110.9%, 86.4% and 85.5% respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/iata-focus-africa-aviation-20230406.html\/\" data-id=\"146403\">IATA \"Focus Africa\" will strengthen aviation's contribution to Africa's development<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>Lyon, Toulouse and Paris CDG bring up the rear<\/strong>These three platforms are <strong>more dependent on business traffic<\/strong>. The cumulative recovery rate at the end of August was 69.2%, 70.7% and 71.9% respectively. <strong>At Paris-Charles de Gaulle, transfer traffic to the Air France hub remains almost 3 points lower than at Paris-Charles de Gaulle.<\/strong> than in 2019. According to A\u00e9roports de Paris, the cumulative figure was 20.31TP3Q.
