Paris, which used to top the ICCA convention city rankings, is no longer in the top three for 2021. Is this a bad thing for the destination?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Corinne Menegaux -<\/em><\/strong> This in no way detracts from the fact that Paris is a privileged destination<\/strong> in terms of congresses. Apart from the last few complicated years, the 2023-2025 schedule has not weakened compared to previous years. It should also be noted that the CICA counting method <\/a>was slightly different in 2021, taking into account purely virtual events and not just hybrids. We did not respond to this question, as we felt that a virtual event, even if it contributes to the industry, does not contribute to the destination. This difference explains the discrepancy, especially as we were told that there would be no ranking...<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Looking ahead to 2022, has the upturn in MICE activity met your expectations?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Corinne Menegaux -<\/em><\/strong> After a complicated first three months, we're catching up, but the year should still be below the level of 2019. All the events are taking place again, often on a smaller scale, but with good returns on investment. We already knew, before covid, that the big events were struggling a bit, that we were reaching the end of certain models. We're in a phase of resizing the industry<\/strong> which is quite interesting to see. Events on a more human scale, with more proactive and targeted visitors, but smaller stands, and therefore more virtuous, are perhaps just as good in the end.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

However, hosting these events remains one of your priorities. What are your latest initiatives to support the sector?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Corinne Menegaux -<\/em><\/strong> At the beginning of 2022, we began updating our convention hosting charter. This charter commits us to working alongside major venues such as those in Viparis<\/a> or GL Events<\/a> and accommodation providers to pool efforts and offer preferential conditions to organisers. On this basis, we wanted to going further with a new charter for hosting major events <\/strong>in general, whether sporting or corporate. A welcome charter covering all the vertical areas concerned, i.e. accommodation and conference sites, but also incoming agencies, caterers and transport. Here too, the aim is to convey a collective message<\/strong> for the destination, with everyone committing at their own level to doing the best they can in terms of customer experience, but also in terms of flexibility in cancellation conditions, a subject on which we placed a great deal of emphasis. This work is already well advanced, and the idea is to publish this new charter at the beginning of 2023.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What messages do you have for the organisers?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Corinne Menegaux -<\/em><\/strong> Today, Paris has everything to offer. We're a very inclusive city, with a strong focus on eco-responsibility and sustainable tourism. I'm convinced that, when you're a company, you choose to do the right thing. a city with the same values <\/strong>to organise an event. There are a number of strong values on which Paris is extremely well positioned, and which are key when it comes to making a choice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

When it comes to eco-responsibility, isn't Paris suffering from competition from other cities, such as those in Northern Europe?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Corinne Menegaux -<\/em><\/strong> I'm not saying that we're perfect, but Paris has done a lot of work on these issues, whether it's cycle paths, public transport, the heating and cooling network, etc. In the latest Global Destination Sustainability Index, Paris moved up from 55th place in the rankings.e<\/sup> at 25e<\/sup> place. So, yes, some northern cities are ahead of the game, notably G\u00f6teborg, which ranks first in the GDS Index. But I defy you to find places of the same size as those in Paris<\/strong>. After all, we are the world's leading city in terms of infrastructure. As far as transport is concerned, even if it's not always easy for visitors, Paris has one of the most extensive networks in the world. When it comes to major world events, the need for infrastructure means that, in the end, Paris finds itself in a league of its own. in competition with a limited number of major cities<\/strong> such as London, New York, Barcelona or Vienna<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
