And so it is the national carrier <strong>Air Canada<\/strong> which is paving the way for this innovation, designed to make the <strong>passenger route<\/strong>. The company unveiled the <strong>21 February<\/strong> this pilot project. For the time being, the experiment is limited to the international airport of <strong>Vancouver<\/strong>. For the time being, this will only apply to certain flights to <strong>Winnipeg<\/strong>. Access to the Air Canada Caf\u00e9 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/toronto-airport-mega-hub-20170421.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Toronto<\/strong><\/a>-Pearson is also involved. Other Canadian airports and airport lounges are also due to take part in this trial phase, but the timetable has not yet been specified by Air Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/biometrie-reconnaissance-faciale-aeroports-20190723.html\/\" data-id=\"87615\">Biometrics: should we be worried about facial recognition at airports?<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>To use this technology, travellers will have to go through the<strong>mobile application <\/strong>of the airline. And the encrypted biometric data will only be stored on the passenger's phone. Passengers can choose whether or not to take part in the experiment, which is strictly voluntary. <strong>optional<\/strong>. Eligible travellers will be notified of this offer before their flight. They will then receive instructions on how to create their secure digital fingerprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-quote\"><blockquote><p>This project has the potential to make boarding at gates easier and faster for Canadian passengers, while maintaining robust security measures.<\/p><cite>Omar Alghabra, Canadian Minister of Transport<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/reconnaissance-faciale-lufthansa-berlin-20230516.html\/\" data-id=\"148563\">Facial recognition replaces boarding passes at Lufthansa in Berlin<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>As Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra points out, facial recognition should speed up the passenger's journey through the airport: \" <em>Our government and Canada's airlines and airports are eager to move forward with innovative solutions and technologies to <strong>modernising the passenger experience at airports across the country<\/strong>This will result in a more seamless and efficient air transportation system. Air Canada's pilot project will speed up processes at YVR and other airports where it is implemented, while respecting strict privacy measures and security standards. This project has the potential to make gate boarding easier and faster for Canadian passengers, while maintaining strong security measures. <\/em>\"says Omar Alghabra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/reconnaissance-faciale-orly-20210323.html\/\" data-id=\"107237\">Facial recognition tests at Orly<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>While Air Canada's initiative was logically launched in conjunction with the public authorities, we can also assume that it is linked to the airline's private partnerships. Last October, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/star-alliance-technologies-biometriques-2025-20221028.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Star Alliance <\/strong>had positioned itself <\/a>clearly on the biometric issue. The airline alliance, whose <strong>Air Canada <\/strong>is one of <strong>founding members<\/strong>recommended that <strong>50% of its member companies have adopted biometric technology by 2025<\/strong>.
