Air transport has been severely affected. L<strong>he sanctions against Russia include a ban on Russian companies operating in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and several other countries around the world.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In retaliation, <strong>Russia has closed its airspace to airlines<\/strong> enemy\" countries in the Kremlin's terminology (including the EU). Air traffic to Ukraine has been completely halted for safety reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/paris-tokyo-ana-20220505.html\/\" data-id=\"124553\">ANA: Paris-Tokyo flight a collateral victim of the war in Ukraine<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-consequences-de-la-guerre-en-ukraine\">The consequences of the war in Ukraine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Air traffic in Russia will have fallen in capacity<\/strong>This was mainly due to the suspension of flights to Europe, which generated the highest volume of passengers. L<strong>he British consultant OAG reports a seat capacity of <strong>lower<\/strong><\/strong> <strong>by 27% between January 2022 and 2023 and by almost 28% compared with 2019<\/strong>. Throughout<strong>Eastern Europe<\/strong>OAG recorded <strong>a 24.6% reduction in capacity<\/strong> for the week of 13 February 2023 compared with the same week in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About Europe, <strong>only three overhead lines now remain<\/strong> Belgrade-Moscow Sheremetyevo (2 daily flights) and Belgrade-Saint Petersburg (4 weekly flights) by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/air-serbia-aeroport-marseille-20230117.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Air Serbia<\/a>. On the other hand, there are up to a dozen daily flights between Russia and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/istanbul-bosphore-creativite-20220713.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Istanbul<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/guerre-ukraine-impact-europe-asie-20220606.html\/\"><strong>Flight times between Europe and Asia have increased<\/strong><\/a>. <strong>This additional time varies from 30 minutes to 3.5 hours.<\/strong>depending on the airline and destination. The most affected is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/finnair-periode-post-russe-20220410.html\/\"><strong>Finnair<\/strong><\/a>. Finnish airlines used to use the route to the North Pole via Russia. Today, Finland has completely lost this geographical advantage. The time spent on its flights to Asia has increased by between 1h30 (Bangkok) and 3h30 (Tokyo) compared with before February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/oag-durees-de-temps-de-vol.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"557\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/oag-durees-de-temps-de-vol.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-143587\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/oag-durees-de-temps-de-vol.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/oag-durees-de-temps-de-vol-300x209-derived.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/oag-durees-de-temps-de-vol-768x535-derived.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/oag-durees-de-temps-de-vol-100x70-derived.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Average air fares between Europe and Asia will have risen from 20% to 30% by 2022. Soaring oil prices and longer flight times are to blame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Air transport came to a complete halt, not only in Ukraine but also at many airports close to the conflict zones in Crimea and southern Russia. The Russian airports of Simferopol, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don have been closed.  Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), the Ukrainian national airline, operates only a few charter flights from Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-highlight-box\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Russian air traffic more resilient than expected<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Contrary to initial assessments of a collapse of air transport in Russia, it has managed to survive the sanctions. However, the sanctions have cut off access to lucrative Western markets and Western aviation technologies. The strong demand for <strong>domestic lines <\/strong>was boosted by $2.5 billion from the government to subsidise prices. This has lessened the impact of the total disappearance of airlines to the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russian airlines carried <strong>95 million passengers <\/strong>last year, according to the Russian Ministry of Transport. Demand would have been 15 % lower than in 2021. The figures announced fell short of the government's targets, which were for <strong>100 million passengers <\/strong>on domestic and international routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airports of <strong>Moscow <\/strong>have lost their importance as international hubs. Sheremetyevo, Aeroflot's hub, recorded 28.4 million passengers last year, a fall of 7 %. Domodedovo saw the biggest fall at -15 %, or 21.2 million passengers. Vnukovo airport lost around 9 %, or 16.4 million passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russian airlines have also redirected their traffic. S7 Airlines has increased its share of the Russian market to 17 %. Routes outside Moscow grew by 22 % in 2022. The company carried 16 million passengers (-10%). Aeroflot says it carried 20.5 million passengers (-4 %) in 2022. The group with its subsidiaries carried 40.7 million (-11 %).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the Russian fleet, it remained more or less the same as before the war. The country had <strong>1,164 machines <\/strong>passenger transport, in <strong>down 200 units<\/strong> compared with March 2022. The Kremlin had ordered carriers to register all aircraft leased to foreign companies under Russian law. Only <strong>Aeroflot <\/strong>has decided to buy 10 Boeing 777s and 8 Airbus A330s from foreign leasing companies.<\/p>\n<\/aside>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Russia's war in
