Since 26 March, the official start of the summer schedules, Air India has strengthened its presence in the UK. The Indian national airline has launched 4 new routes from London Gatwick <\/strong>to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Kochi and Goa.<\/p>\n

Each of these destinations is served three times a week by the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Air India is not abandoning its historic London Heathrow base, however. Quite the contrary: the airline is also strengthening its services to its two main destinations, Delhi and Mumbai. The number of flights has risen from 12 to 14 flights on Heathrow-Mumbai and 14 to 17 frequencies on Heathrow-Delhi...<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This rise in power in London underpins the stated ambitions of the Indian government and the TATA group to rebuild the airline as a powerful international carrier<\/strong><\/a>We have ambitious but focused plans to restore Air India to its rightful place among the world's leading carriers,\" said Campbell Wilson, Air India's Managing Director and CEO.<\/p>\n

In February, Air India resumed its flights from Delhi to Europe. Milan Malpensa <\/strong>and Vienna, <\/strong>then on 1 March from Delhi to Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

Premium Economy from May<\/h4>\n

In addition, India's national carrier is launching on 15 May Premium Economy on long-haul flights<\/strong>. For the moment, the new class concerns the Boeing 777-200LR fleet serving the United States. The new class should soon be introduced on aircraft serving Europe, particularly London.<\/p>\n

Premium Economy customers will benefit from dedicated airport counters, priority baggage transfer and priority boarding. On board, Premium Economy will comprise 48 leather seats, 48.2 cm wide and 96.5 cm wide.<\/strong> The seats will be equipped with adjustable leg and foot rests. The meal service also includes a choice of three main courses. Passengers can book flights in Premium Economy class from 27 March.<\/p>\n\n\n
