They are more than thirty years old, yet they are at the cutting edge of modern comfort. Swedish rail operator SJ's high-speed trains, the X2000s, have been enjoying a facelift since 2021. This Renovation of the X2000 trains, which travel the country at 200 kph, began with the upgrade of the Stockholm-G\u00f6teborg line in autumn 2021.<\/strong>. Renovated trains have been running on the line since this spring. Stockholm-Malm\u00f6<\/strong>which also extends to theairport <\/strong>and the town of Copenhagen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new X2000s operate three times a day in each direction during the week.<\/strong>. They run once a day at weekends. Trains stop at Lund, Link\u00f6ping and Norrk\u00f6ping along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision of the SJ<\/a> to refurbish rather than replace its fleet of X2000 SJs was taken in 2014. With the aim of extend the life of its trains by 20 to 25 years <\/strong>and, above all, to save a third of the price charged for new trains. However, the investment represents some 310 million euros<\/strong> (SEK 3.5 billion). The trains are also more environmentally friendly, with less steel being used to lighten the weight of the trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important thing for passengers is improved on-board comfort. The new X2000s offer more ergonomic seats and more seats (15% more capacity than previous models<\/strong>). The armchairs are electrically adjustable so they can be lowered or raised. They also have wider, extendable shelves. SJ has integrated new luggage storage areas<\/strong>particularly in second class. The trains also benefit from a wifi <\/strong>more efficient, offering 5G technology. According to SJ, all X2000 lines will have been modernised by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
