The company seized this opportunity <strong>Arriva Netherlands<\/strong>. This subsidiary of <strong>Deutsche Bahn<\/strong> submitted a route application to the Dutch Consumer and Markets Authority (ACM) on 8 June. The operator wishes to operate its first international train service <strong>\"Open Access<\/strong> between the towns of Groningen, in the north of the <strong>Netherlands<\/strong>and <strong>Paris<\/strong>. The line would pass through Amsterdam, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/rotterdam-port-dattache-archi-design-20161004.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rotterdam<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/anvers-gand-flandre-20230515.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Antwerp<\/a>Brussels and Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open Access\" means that the carrier bears all the costs associated with the launch of the line, its operation and its services. Without claiming any state subsidies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The future link meets a growing demand for more sustainable transport options within Europe. It is in line with the European Commission's objective of creating more cross-border rail links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/deplacements-rail-aerien-ue-20230427.html\/\" data-id=\"147619\">Is rail gaining the upper hand over air travel in the European Union?<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-future-concurrence-avec-thalys\">Future competition with Thalys<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If it receives all the necessary approvals, Arriva intends to operate the daily service from <strong>June 2026 <\/strong>with a total journey time of just over <strong>five hours from Groningen to Paris<\/strong>. The route would be offered on a daily return trip. Arriva will also offer a <strong>third daily service between Amsterdam and Paris <\/strong>in the middle of the day. The project also includes <strong>a stop at Schiphol airport to facilitate connections between planes and trains<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The timetables are already known. The train will leave Groningen at 05:30 and stop at Zwolle, Almere, Amsterdam South, Schiphol, Rotterdam Central, Antwerp Central, Brussels South and arrive in Paris Gare du Nord at 10:40. The return journey will leave Paris at 19:15, arriving in Groningen at around 00:30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mike Cooper, CEO of the Arriva Group, explains the arrival of DB's international subsidiary. \"\u00a0<em>International rail has an important role to play in supporting the sustainability agenda by encouraging people to switch from aviation to short-haul intercity services. This is good for competition, which is good for passengers. By using our experience in European markets, we can facilitate a change in travel habits.<\/em>\" .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arriva Netherlands plans to submit further applications between the Netherlands, Belgium and France. If it wins this service concession, Arriva will be a serious competitor to <strong>Eurostar between Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam<\/strong>. This will probably lead to a reduction in rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/trenitalia-paris-bruxelles-amsterdam-20230822.html\/\" data-id=\"154143\">Trenitalia targets the Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam route<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-highlight-box\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beware of roadworks at Amsterdam Centraal!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amsterdam Centraal <\/strong>is on the eve of a <strong>major renovation<\/strong>. To create more space and increase the capacity of the central station to <strong>275,000 daily passengers instead of the current 200,000<\/strong>work is under way for a period of <strong>seven years<\/strong>. New tracks and tunnels will be built under the station. This will mean the closure of several platforms for several years. The platforms will be widened and new access points opened up from the city. The estimated cost of the project is <strong>850 million euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, ProRail, which is responsible for infrastructure in the Netherlands, promises that the trains will continue to run. This transformation will make it possible to increase the frequency of trains. The Randstad (Rotterdam-Amsterdam-The Hague) will benefit from a train every 10 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>Eurostar <\/strong>is likely to face negative consequences. Visit <strong>international terminal <\/strong>will have to close.
