As IATA observes, although the association is predicting a <strong>possible net profit of $9.8 billion<\/strong>she complains that <strong>profitability remains extremely low per passenger<\/strong>.<strong> IATA puts it at US$2.2 in 2023<\/strong>. In other words, half the price of a caf\u00e9 in Geneva!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/iata-resultats-passagers-2022-20230213.html\/\">IATA<\/a> However, air traffic continues to rise. For <strong>2023, <\/strong>the association believes that <strong>the number of revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) should reach 87.8 % of the 2019 level<\/strong>. This solid performance does not seem to have been affected by the difficult economic and political situation created by the continuing inflation and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/guerre-russie-ukraine-impact-20230224.html\/\">international conflicts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/tarifs-aeriens-asie-aci-20230614.html\/\" data-id=\"150409\">Air fares soar in Asia, warns ACI Airport Association<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-l-asie-de-nouveau-en-force\">Asia back in force<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All regions are seeing a gradual and widespread recovery, supported in particular by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/asie-aerien-20230411.html\/\">the upturn in air traffic in the Asia-Pacific region<\/a>. The reopening of China has boosted traffic in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first quarter of 2023, <strong>passenger traffic on the continent soared to +74.2 <\/strong>%. Asia-Pacific carriers thus regained their dominant position in the first quarter of 2023. They once again represented <strong>31.9 % of revenue passenger kilometres<\/strong> worldwide. Visit <strong>European and North American airlines<\/strong>whose market share in RPK had reached 30.7% and 28.9% respectively in 2022, fell back this first quarter to <strong>24.7 % and 25.1 %<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IATA remains extremely optimistic about the future of air transport, in a world that is, of course, carbon-free. The association believes that <strong>demand for air transport is set to double by 2040<\/strong>with an average annual growth rate of 3.4%. The number of origin-destination passengers is expected to rise from around 4 billion in 2019 to just over 8 billion in 15 years' time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/iata-controle-aerien-europe-20230713.html\/\" data-id=\"152317\">IATA complains about air traffic control delays in Europe<\/a><\/p><\/aside>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IATA has just held its annual meeting. And there was plenty of good news for the airlines at this year's meeting in 2023. But not necessarily for
