As part of a partnership with Japan Hotel Reit Advisors (JHRA), Accor is to take over the management of<strong> 23 hotels under the Daiwa Resort banner<\/strong> located in some of the country's most emblematic locations, including the island of Hokkaido and Okinawa. After renovation, the handover will take place throughout 2024, after which the hotels will be operated under the Grand Mercure and Mercure brands. \"\u00a0<em>These changes will enable us to offer new experiences and unforgettable travel memories.<\/em>\" commented Koji Mayanagi, CEO of Daiwa Resort.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\">\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/mercure-haneda-tokyo-20220617.html\/\" data-id=\"126589\">Mercury on approach to Tokyo Haneda<\/a><\/p>\r\n<\/aside>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This new partnership will strengthen<strong> the already strong position of the Mercure pennant in the region<\/strong>. While Grand Mercure has around forty hotels in Asia-Pacific with just over 10,000 rooms, Mercure alone has over 260 establishments and almost 45,000 rooms. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of the brand in Northern Europe, and even in Southern Europe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>China is obviously deriving a large part of its development from the region, in particular thanks to the <strong>strategic partnership established in 2016 with H World Group<\/strong>Accor was once a shareholder of 10% before selling its last shares at the beginning of 2023. \"\u00a0<em>The cumulative value of disposals since 2019 has reached $1.2 billion, compared with an initial investment of less than $200 million.<\/em>\" Accor underlined this last January.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"504\" class=\"wp-image-152893\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/grand-mercure-hangzhou-jijingang-exterio.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/grand-mercure-hangzhou-jijingang-exterio.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/grand-mercure-hangzhou-jijingang-exterio-300x216-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><em>Grand Mercure Hangzhou Jijingang<\/em>.<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>However, this does not mean the end of a partnership that is set to continue. \"\u00a0<em>H World Group and Accor will continue to <strong>working together<\/strong> to meet this demand and capitalise on the boom in the upmarket business and leisure tourism market in China<\/em>said Jin Hui, CEO of H World Group. <em>The vigorous development of tourism in China, the emergence of a powerful middle class and new generations of travellers are driving record consumer demand for high-quality hospitality options.<\/em>\" .<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The result of this master franchise agreement, <strong>nearly 150 Mercure hotels<\/strong> and 20 Grand Mercure hotels are now in operation, while a further 50 Mercures are under development. Recent openings include two hotels in Hanghzou, the Mercure and Grand Mercure Hangzhou Zijingang, located in the Shenhua district, close to the Asian Games Park and the city's business districts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-highlight-box\">\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-movenpick\">M\u00f6venpick<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"343\" class=\"wp-image-152891\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/movenpick-qingdao-sunmei-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/movenpick-qingdao-sunmei-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/movenpick-qingdao-sunmei-1-300x147-derived.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/movenpick-qingdao-sunmei-1-324x160-derived.jpg 324w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption><em>Movenpick Qingdao Sunmei. <\/em><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In addition to Mercure, the top-of-the-range M\u00f6venpick brand also has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/movenpick-chine-developpement-20220712.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">big ambitions in China<\/a>. Last year, a partnership between Accor and the Sunmei group should lead to <strong>the opening of 400 hotels <\/strong>under the M\u00f6venpick by Accor brand, a product designed for Chinese travellers. While these high figures should always be treated with caution, the first anniversary of this agreement, signed in mid-July 2022 - at the same time celebrating 50 years of M\u00f6venpick - provided an opportunity to take stock. During the first 12 months, 10 new projects were signed and<strong> more than a hundred negotiations are underway<\/strong>. Several openings are also planned for 2023. Among the cities where business travellers will soon see the brand appear are Ganzhou, Kashgar, Nanjing and Qingdao. Cities such as Shenzhen, Changsha, Shijiazhuang and Zhangjiagang are also on the cards.<\/p>\r\n<\/aside>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mercure - and its Grand Mercure brand - will double in size in Japan with the conversion of 23 Daiwa Resort hotels.
