{"id":156525,"date":"2023-09-08T12:05:37","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T10:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=156525"},"modified":"2025-03-11T18:16:22","modified_gmt":"2025-03-11T17:16:22","slug":"sncf-tgv-m-design-sieges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/sncf-tgv-m-design-sieges","title":{"rendered":"SNCF: the TGV M will be designed right down to its seats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A year after unveiling the exterior design of its<strong> future TGV M<\/strong>the <strong>SNCF <\/strong>has just presented the <strong>design of 1st and 2nd class seats <\/strong>which will equip the trains delivered by the group <strong>Alstom <\/strong>from <strong>2025<\/strong>. \"\u00a0<em>The design of the seats and lamps will be <strong>emblematic marker<\/strong>. They are the fruit of a desire to <strong>offer the best on-board experience<\/strong><\/em> \"announced <strong>Christophe Fanichet<\/strong>the CEO of SNCF Voyageurs. Gone, in fact, is the very square and serious look of the 1st class seats of the <strong>TGV Oc\u00e9ane <\/strong>dating from <strong>2016<\/strong>. Make way for a <strong>refined design<\/strong>with seats that seem to levitate. Undoubtedly the touch of<strong>Japanese design agency Nendo <\/strong>which, for the occasion, is associated with the architectural firm <strong>Arep<\/strong>the designer of numerous stations in France for the railway company. However, the project will have required <strong>five years of work<\/strong>The call for tenders was issued as soon as <strong>2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/sncf-alstom-tgv-futur-20220909.html\/\" data-id=\"130545\">SNCF and Alstom unveil the future TGV M<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-des-sieges-plus-larges-en-1ere-et-plus-espaces-en-2nde\">Wider seats in 1st and further apart in 2nd<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le <strong>comfort <\/strong>was obviously at the heart of the design team's concerns, with seating that complies with <strong>security<\/strong>offering <strong>useful functions <\/strong>to different types of passenger, adapting to all body types and journey times. The SNCF is also promising softer seats, twice as soft as today's, to provide \"a more comfortable travel experience\".\u00a0<em>a softer seat<\/em>\" . The trains will then be treated in the form of layers of colour, with darker colours on the floor and lighter colours on the ceiling. In 2nd grade, the seats will feature a shade of blue natural wool, symbolising \"\u00a0<em>reflections in the water<\/em>\u00a0\"According to the agencies commissioned, these range from red to ros\u00e9 in 1st class. For <strong>new products<\/strong>this seat will be <strong>5 cm wider<\/strong> compared with the previous generation, with a <strong>more generous shelf<\/strong> 5 cm in length and a <strong>tilt <\/strong>also announced as more important. In Seconde, the major gain was made in the legs, with a <strong>5 cm extra spacing between seats<\/strong>. A mini-shelf for a mobile phone has also been added. The headrest will be height-adjustable in both classrooms, which will be equipped with a swivel reading light, electrical sockets and, in 1\u00e8re, a <strong>USB port<\/strong>. Thanks to their new design, <strong>the seats will be able to accommodate cabin baggage underneath, as on aircraft<\/strong>. A big innovation for SNCF: the carriages will be <strong>modular <\/strong>so that they can be easily and quickly converted from one class to another in the workshop to suit travel periods and markets, as some of the TGV M trains will be used on international routes (Spain, Italy, etc.).
