And as a picture-postcard backdrop is not always enough, the local authorities are also playing on the economic string to charm the organisers. A new <strong>VAT exemption on accommodation costs <\/strong>has been in place since October.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Economic Development Board<\/strong> of Mauritius is part of the <strong>MICE VAT Exemption Scheme<\/strong>. Designed for business meetings, conferences or even weddings, it is nevertheless subject to certain conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Available to both local and international organisers, this exemption from VAT on accommodation costs involves a <strong>minimum of 50 foreign visitors<\/strong>. In addition, visitors must stay for at least<strong>at least three nights<\/strong> in a hotel in Mauritius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/maurice-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-163077\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/maurice-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/maurice-1-300x200-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mauritius boasts the largest and most modern convention centre in the region: the <strong>Swami Vivekananda Conference Centre <\/strong>in Pailles. It can host international conferences for up to 5,000 people simultaneously. The range of facilities on offer is rounded off by the <strong>International Conference Centre<\/strong> at Grand Bay, with a capacity of up to 600 guests, the <strong>Freeport Exhibition <\/strong>in the Red Sea (up to 1,000 delegates) and the <strong>Trianon Convention Centre <\/strong>at Trianon (up to 3,000 delegates). <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mauritius is taking new measures to attract major events.
