{"id":163967,"date":"2023-12-11T16:31:12","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T15:31:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=163967"},"modified":"2024-01-26T12:17:28","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T11:17:28","slug":"tgv-inoui-price-increase-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/tgv-inoui-price-increase-2024","title":{"rendered":"Inoui TGV prices set to rise again in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a <strong>average increase of 5% <\/strong>rates in 2023, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/sncf-dessertes-tgv-sellette-20240124.html\/\">SNCF <\/a><\/strong>should once again increase that of <strong>TGV Inoui <\/strong>However, this increase will have to be limited to the rate of inflation, i.e. 2.6%, according to the government's wishes. This framework is unlikely to be to the liking of the <strong>SNCF Voyageurs <\/strong>who will have to deal with a new <strong>increase in rail tolls<\/strong> decided by <strong>SNCF R\u00e9seaux <\/strong>for 2024, of the order of +8% for the <strong>TER <\/strong>and +7.6% for <strong>TGV<\/strong>. Tolls now account for almost <strong>40% of the price of a ticket<\/strong> for the latter trains. This new increase goes against the position of <strong>Roberto Rinaudo<\/strong>the French president of <strong>Trenitalia<\/strong>who recently spoke out in our columns in favour of a <strong>reduction in tolls of around 20%<\/strong> in order to offer tickets at more attractive fares to stimulate demand. The volume policy chosen in Italy would, he believes, enable the maintenance of the rail network in France to continue to be financed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/interview-roberto-rinaudo-trenitalia-france-20231106.html\/\" data-id=\"161447\">Interview with : Roberto Rinaudo, Chairman of Trenitalia France<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/sncflilleeurope.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-163981\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/sncflilleeurope.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/sncflilleeurope-300x195-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A \"fare shield\" on Ouigo and Intercit\u00e9s services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After an increase of 5% this year, subscriptions <strong>Max Active <\/strong>will also be increased by 10% on 1 February 2024, an increase justified by <strong>SNCF Voyageurs<\/strong> by the boom in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/sncf-contours-offre-teletravail-20210903.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">teleworking<\/a><\/strong>. In exchange for these increases for the Inoui TGVs, Transport Minister Cl\u00e9ment Beaune has announced a <strong>price freeze on Ouigo<\/strong>the rail group's low-cost TGVs, which already account for 25% of its high-speed offering, and the <strong>Intercit\u00e9s <\/strong>which carry some 12 million French people a year. It has also been decided to introduce a <strong>maintaining ticket price ceilings<\/strong> for <strong>Advantage cards <\/strong>held by 4.5 million French people, which have already been increased by \u20ac10 this year. Lastly, the Minister confirmed that a <strong>Rail pass <\/strong>which, for a price of around <strong>49 euros <\/strong>unlimited travel on TER and Intercit\u00e9s trains throughout France. Negotiations are still underway with the regions to define the final price. The government's intention is to copy a monthly TER offer launched in Germany by Deutsche Bahn in May 2023 at a similar price. This product was very successful in Germany throughout the summer period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/allemagne-9-euros-train-20220519.html\/\" data-id=\"125385\">Crossing Germany by train for 9 euros?<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-highlight-box\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pour-trainline-kombo-et-omio-la-distribution-ferroviaire-est-inequitable-en-france\">For Trainline, Kombo and Omio, rail distribution is unfair in France<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trainline, Omio and Kombo <\/strong>have joined forces to call for the creation of national regulations governing the distribution of train tickets. These three <strong>ticket distribution platforms<\/strong> believe that competition in France is distorted in particular by the weight of <strong>SNCFConnect<\/strong>the SNCF's distribution arm, which dominates the market, with sales of well over \u20ac5 billion a year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/ferroviaire-ouverture-concurrence-france-20231106.html\/\" data-id=\"161387\">Rail: opening up to competition finally on track in France<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>\"\u00a0<em>In Europe, there is currently a growing awareness of the need to protect the environment.<strong>asymmetry of power between rail operators and distribution platforms<\/strong>. The latter are working to improve access to rail services, particularly in the context of the opening up of rail services to competition. <strong>competition<\/strong>. A solid legislative framework is therefore needed to ensure that the various players in the sector are reasonable, fair, transparent, proportionate and non-discriminatory. <\/em>\"says Alexander Enert, Director of European Government Relations at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/table-ronde-trainline-concurrence-20220914.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trainline<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To restore a semblance of balance, these independent distributors are therefore issuing a joint press release calling for \"\u00a0<em>real-time, up-to-date, high-quality access to mobility data<\/em>\" . They are also demanding access to tickets and season tickets marketed by the railway companies. Finally, a request has been made to the French Transport Regulation Authority \".\u00a0<em>a mechanism to regulate the level of commission granted by the rail authority in order to cover its distribution costs and ensure a minimum level of profitability<\/em>\" . <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-quote\"><blockquote><p>If you want cheaper tickets, you need more competition. But the new rail operators are only sold by independent distributors.<\/p><cite>Matthieu Marquenet, CEO of Kombo<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>\"\u00a0<em>For cheaper tickets, more competition is needed.
