In particular, they point to \" <em>factors such as air traffic controller strikes, flight crew movements and difficult weather conditions...<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vapo-content\" style=\"display:none\">\n<p>As 2023 draws to a close, <strong>Flightright<\/strong> takes stock of the disruptions encountered by business and leisure travellers when travelling in <strong>Europe<\/strong>. And the conclusion is clear for the passenger compensation specialist: \" <em>the year <strong>2023 <\/strong>has been a period <strong>particularly complicated for European travellers<\/strong>thousands of flights delayed and cancelled across the continent<\/em> \"The authors of the study sum up. In particular, they point to \" <em>factors such as strikes by air traffic controllers, flight crew movements and difficult weather conditions <\/em>\". Against this backdrop, according to Flightright, French airspace is coming to the end of a relatively chaotic 2023. Indeed, the <strong>France <\/strong>was this year's <strong>second most affected country <\/strong>by these air travel problems. Only Germany has a weaker performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/retards-transports-france-20230731.html\/\" data-id=\"153233\">Punctuality: 2022, annus horribilis for transport in France<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>In detail, it should be noted that<strong>a quarter<\/strong> (24,31%) of <strong>605195 thefts recorded <\/strong>suffered delays. And the cancellation rate reached 1.75%. What's more, the situation is worse than in the previous year, as Imane El Bouanani points out: \" <em>France saw an increase in delays in 2023, with a significant number of flights cancelled and delayed. These delays had a direct impact on passengers, resulting in financial losses for those who had planned their journeys. <\/em>\"notes Flightright's spokeswoman for France. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Symbol of this observation, <strong>Orly <\/strong>is designated by <strong>Flightright <\/strong>as the worst performer in Europe. Between January and the beginning of December, the Paris airport recorded a total of <strong>2,188 cancellations<\/strong> and no less than <strong>15,846 delays<\/strong>. \" <em>A hub for international travel, this unenviable position underlines the challenges the airport has had to face throughout the year, causing major disruption for travellers. <\/em>\"insist the authors of the study. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/paris-2024-adp-paf-20230404.html\/\" data-id=\"146099\">Paris 2024: ADP and the PAF unleash the stopwatch<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"431\" height=\"399\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/flightright.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/flightright.jpg 431w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/flightright-300x278-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px\" \/><figcaption><em>European comparison of the 30 airports with the highest number of departures from 1 January to 6 December (Flightright)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Two other major French hubs also feature in Flightright's top 15 worst airports: <strong>Nice <\/strong>(1,016 cancellations and 15,725 delays) and <strong>Paris CDG <\/strong>(2273 and 63300). According to this \"top 30\" of the most affected airports, only <strong>Heathrow <\/strong>and <strong>Lisbon <\/strong>are worse than the Paris hub for delays, both in terms of number of flights affected and percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What about the airlines? Flightright draws a - slightly - more flattering balance sheet for the French players in the sector.
