At 5.9% below 2019, civil aviation has returned to near-normal levels. This figure already confirms that 2024 should exceed the results for 2019, the last year before the health crisis. This is due to a tense geopolitical situation that continues to lead to disruptions in travel movements. <strong>Europe continues to be affected by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/guerre-russie-ukraine-impact-20230224.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Russian-Ukrainian conflict<\/a><\/strong> while <strong>the Middle East<\/strong> is affected by the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/israel-compagnies-aeriennes-20231009.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clash between Hamas and Israel<\/a><\/strong>. <strong>Political instability in certain parts of Africa<\/strong> also continues to have an impact on traffic flows, particularly in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/crise-niger-experts-securite-20230804.html\/\">West Africa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/vols-paris-tel-aviv-retour-compagnies-20240122.html\/\" data-id=\"166467\">Tel Aviv: the return of the airlines takes shape<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-quote\"><blockquote><p>The upturn in travel is good news. For the first time since the pandemic!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Airlines in the region <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/peter-semone-pata-tourisme-asiatique-20240105.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Asia-Pacific<\/a> recorded a 126.1 % increase in international traffic<\/strong> for 2023 compared with 2022. Capacity increased by 101.8 % and load factor climbed 9 points to 83.1 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Middle East airlines experienced a 33.3 1TP3Q increase in traffic<\/strong> in 2023 compared with 2022. Capacity increased by 26.0% and load factor improved by 4.4 points to 80.1%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>North American carriers saw traffic increase by 28.3 %<\/strong> between 2022 and 2023. Capacity increased by 22.4 % and load factor gained 3.9 points to 84.6 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Latin American airlines reported a 28.6 1TP3Q increase in traffic.<\/strong> in 2023 compared with 2022. Annual capacity increased by 25.4% and the load factor rose by 2.1 points to 84.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And finally.., <strong>African airlines saw their traffic jump by 38.7 %<\/strong> between 2022 and 2023. Capacity increased by 38.3 % and the load factor rose by 0.2 points to 71.9 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-favoriser-un-transport-aerien-plus-vertueux\">Promoting greener air transport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\"\u00a0<em>But to maximise the benefits of air travel in the post-pandemic world, governments need to adopt a strategic approach, <\/em>warns Willie Walsh<em>. This means putting in place cost-effective infrastructures to meet demand. <strong>Encouraging <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/saf-carburant-aerien-acceleration-20220930.html\/\"><strong>production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) <\/strong><\/a><strong>to achieve our goal of zero net carbon emissions by 2050<\/strong>.
