While the trend sometimes borders on being a simple fashion phenomenon or even a gadget, the objectives unveiled at the beginning of February by <strong>KLM <\/strong>are promising, to say the least. Based on the technology developed by <strong>Kickstart AI<\/strong>the Dutch company intends to <strong>reduce food waste by 63 % <\/strong>on board its flights. And save no less than 100,000 kg of meals every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/expedia-amex-gbt-egencia-fraudes-20240201.html\/\" data-id=\"167563\">Amex GBT Egencia: AI and Expedia to help track down fraud<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong>IA<\/strong>called TRAYS, has been designed specifically for KLM's catering activities. It consists of <strong>predict the number of passengers on board<\/strong> on the basis of historical data, since according to the company between <strong>3 and 5 % passengers do not show up for the flight<\/strong>or at least not in time to board. In addition, the AI adopted by KLM is able to refine its forecasts according to the class of travel: Business, Premium Comfort or Economy. \"The forecast using the AI model starts 17 days before departure and continues up to 20 minutes before flight departure. This means that the most accurate possible number of passengers is forecast for the entire catering process, from purchase to loading, thus avoiding surplus meals\", say the project managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\" <em>The application of artificial intelligence is making a huge contribution to improving our flight operations and making them more sustainable.<\/em> \"says Marjan Rintel, CEO of KLM. \" <em>The fight against food waste is a good example of this, resulting in tens of thousands fewer wasted meals on our flights every year. <\/em>\"she assures us.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KLM is banking on artificial intelligence in its fight against food waste.
