{"id":168417,"date":"2024-02-19T10:25:20","date_gmt":"2024-02-19T09:25:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=168417"},"modified":"2026-02-11T16:24:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T15:24:12","slug":"lufthansa-strikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/lufthansa-strikes","title":{"rendered":"Strike after strike at Lufthansa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This can become tiresome for passengers travelling on <strong>Lufthansa and its subsidiaries<\/strong> in Germany. <strong>The Verdi union has called a warning strike by Lufthansa ground staff for just over a day on Tuesday 20 February.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This move should lead to <strong>a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/greves-transport-allemagne-20240131.html\/\">air transport paralysis<\/a> even greater than a week ago<\/strong>. Because this time, all ground staff, from maintenance to passenger and aircraft handling, will stop work. <strong>The strike will officially begin at 4 a.m. on Tuesday and will end at 7.10 a.m. on Wednesday.<\/strong>. In addition to the two hubs of <strong>Frankfurt and Munich, Berlin, Cologne\/Bonn, D\u00fcsseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/lufthansa-strike-imminent\/\" data-id=\"216757\">Strike imminent at Lufthansa<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>This warning strike is taking place because <strong>negotiations stall<\/strong> because of the low pay rises offered. In fact, according to Verdi, <strong>96% employees rejected management's offer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ground staff's discontent is fuelled by the huge gap between the pilots' remuneration and their own. According to Verdi, the group gives its pilots double-digit pay rises, with basic annual incomes of up to \u20ac270,000. In contrast, ground staff pay starts at \u20ac13 an hour. The latter should not even receive compensation for the price increases of recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verdi is therefore demanding an increase of 12.5% - with a minimum of an extra 500 euros per month. Plus a bonus of 3,000 euros to compensate for inflation. <strong>The next negotiations are scheduled for Wednesday<\/strong>.
