In its Serve 360 report - named after the platform that guides the group's CSR efforts - Marriott outlined progress made by the Group in recent months. For example, it has passed the mark of 7,000 electric vehicle chargers installed in more than 1,800 establishments around the world, its purchases of 56.13 % of free-range eggs and its support for the liberation of around 110,000 sea turtles. Other actions include fundraising, volunteering, employing refugees and raising awareness of human trafficking.

The American group also welcomed the verification, last April, of its short- and medium-term emissions reduction targets set by the European Union. the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). As part of this, Marriott has launched a climate action programme in all its managed and franchised establishments worldwide, focusing on the development of reduction targets specific to each establishment.

At a time when more and more companies are demanding eco-responsibility in their travel policies, the world's leading hotel group's commitment to a more sustainable hotel industry is clearly no exception. IHG Hotels & Resorts has just launched its Low Carbon Pioneers programme, distinguishing its low-carbon hotelsThey do not burn fossil fuels on site, and rely on renewable energies.

Among these "pioneers", the Kimpton BEM Budapest just opened, the Holiday Inn Express at Madrid airport and the Iberostar Waves Cristina resort in Spain. These are all model hotels, certified as eco-responsible, which will be brought to pull the rest of the network behind them of the British group by encouraging other establishments - and their owners - to join the programme while sharing their good practice and know-how in reducing carbon emissions.

For its part, Accor was able to congratulate itself on having taken a symbolic step in June with its 1000e eco-certified hotel. This brings the French group a step closer to its target of having 30% of its hotels certified by the end of the year and 100 % of its worldwide network labelled by 2026. At the same time, in the run-up to the Paralympic Games, the French group has stated that 380 hotels in France have already been or will be awarded the 'Tourism and Disability' label.

The Green Key label is attracting more and more hotels

In terms of eco-responsibility, its historic Novotel brand has also entered into a partnership with the WWF to protect and restore the oceans, with more sustainable purchases of seafood and support for WWF France's major conservation projects around the world. All this is in addition to the ban on single-use plastic in 80% of its establishments. All of which gives added substance to the a new raison d'être unveiled at the Group's Annual General Meeting at the end of May: "As pioneers of responsible hospitality, we bring cultures together with passion and generosity".

With carbon emission reduction targets validated in 2019 by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the Group is continuing on its path towards a 46 % reduction in CO2
by 2030 emissions for scopes 1 and 2 and -28 % for scope 3. These targets are very similar to those presented by Marriott last April and those recently announced by Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, parent company the NH, Anantara, Avani and Tivoli brands.

Tivoli La Caleta Tenerife Resort, part of the Minor group.

The Thai group has revised upwards its ambitions emissions by 2030, i.e. -46.2 % below 2019 levels for Scope 1 and 2 and -27.5 % for Scope 3 emissions. All of this describes a trajectory, validated and approved by the SBTi, leading to net zero emissions by the middle of the century, with the Group committing to reducing its total greenhouse gas emissions by 90 % as part of its new target for 2050. Already, more than half of the Group's hotels in Europe and the Americas are certified for sustainability, with 66 % of electricity coming from renewable sources, rising to 100 % in Southern Europe.

The Radisson Group currently has 67 hotels using of electricity 100 % renewableAs part of its Responsible Business programme, the hotel operator has also reduced its carbon footprint per square metre by 35 % since 2019. As part of its Responsible Business programme, the carbon footprint per square metre has also been reduced by 35 % since 2019. This should also bring us closer to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 46 % by 2030 and moving towards Net Zero by 2050. These targets, like the others, have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.

But the leaders in the hotel industry are not the only ones involved in their sustainable transition. Since its launch in 2014, the budget chain Eklo has established itself as a leader in accessible and responsible hotel management. This commitment is being renewed today with the unveiling of its CSR roadmap "Eklo Cap 2030". A comprehensive programme that builds on a number of initiatives taken in 2023, starting with the completion of its first carbon footprint.

This diagnosis, carried out using the "Diag Décarbon'Action", offered by BPI France in partnership with ADEME, revealed key indicators such as emissions of 18 kg of CO² per night. Other figures from this assessment, which includes scopes 1, 2 and 3, include customer travel, which constitutes a significant proportion of the company's carbon footprint. more than two thirds of greenhouse gas emissions (71%), compared with 13% for purchases, 9% for fixed assets and 3% for energy and fluids.

This preliminary CSR audit enabled Eklo to refine its strategy to move up a gear. As part of the Eklo Cap 2030 plan, the stated objective is to reduce its emissions by 30% per night within six years. To achieve this, a CSR committee and ambassadors have been set up in each hotel, in addition to a Green Key certification programme for all its establishments.

Accor, IHG, Marriott, Minor, Radisson and also the Eklo chain: all these hotel groups presented advances in their CSR strategies.

[57
1129,1451,1807,2269,2315,2335
52

post-178219","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-hotellerie","tag-developpement-durable","tag-accor","tag-marriott","tag-ihg","tag-radisson","tag-rse","type-darticle-breve","vapo-free

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v25.9 (Yoast SEO v25.9) -
