After Ryanair in Bordeaux, here comeseasyJet has just announced that it is to close its Toulouse base<\/strong> next spring. However, its motives are different from those of its competitor. The British carrier is not really blaming the charges at Blagnac airport. Easyjet<\/a> instead refers to a general restructuring of its activities in France due to a marked slowdown in the recovery of traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two aircraft based in Toulouse will be reassigned next spring to Nantes and Lyon<\/strong>. Easyjet will therefore continue to maintain six bases in France<\/strong>Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Nice, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the closure, easyJet says it will continue to serve Toulouse from other airports, adding that it \"will continue to link the city to major destinations in France and internationally\". The 20 routes already planned for the 2024-25 winter season are not affected by this decision.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easyjet currently offers 17 lines<\/strong> to six domestic destinations and 11 international destinations. Including exclusive routes such as Basel-Mulhouse, Berlin, Brussels, Geneva, London-Gatwick, Milan-Malpensa and Rhodes.<\/strong>. The airline ranks third in terms of the number of seats offered, behind Air France and Ryanair. This represents just over 18% of the total capacity on offer at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Few major changes to the Easyjet network in Toulouse?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is likely that the airport will be relatively unaffected by the closure of this base. Easyjet has indicated that it is in discussions with the airport authorities to maintain an \"attractive\" network. For example, it is likely that aircraft from the Basel, Berlin, Geneva, London and Milan bases will take over the routes operated by aircraft from the Toulouse base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The slowdown in aviation growth is also reflected in a reduction in capacity at Roissy<\/strong>. Easyjet will be moving one of its aircraft from this base to Orly.<\/strong>. Nevertheless, the airline expects to increase its seat capacity by 5% this winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the wake of this announcement, the Union des navigants de l'aviation civile (Unac) (Union of Civil Aviation Seafarers) lodged a notice of strike. strike<\/strong>an unlimited, nationwide strike.
