Less than 1% of passengers have their baggage - temporarily - mislaid on United Airlines<\/strong>. However, for those who suffer this type of mishap, United is now integrating Apple Share Item Location into its application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now available on Apple iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 or macOS 15.2<\/strong>Apple's Share Item Location feature allows United customers who integrate AirTag's 'Find My' service to securely and transparently share location data from both providers. This enables United's customer service team tospeed up tracing of lost luggage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Better baggage tracing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This new digital innovation is one of United's most recent investments in technology. The system aims to make travel easier and baggage handling more transparent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\" For years, customers have been able to track their baggage via the United app as it is scanned on departure and arrival. Previously, they didn't have the option of sharing their AirTag information directly with our baggage team.<\/em> \"explained David Kinzelman, Chief Customer Officer of United<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\" Now, the new Apple Share Item Location feature will give customers even greater peace of mind. Customers have another way to access the precise location of their baggage through AirTag. They can easily share this information with us in the United application. Our teams then use the information to return the bag to its owner much more quickly.<\/em> \" .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Absolute security for information sharing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the case of a lost luggage<\/a>, customers must fill in a report in the United application<\/strong>. Those who travel with an AirTag can create a link \"Share object location<\/strong> in the Find My application on their iPhone, iPad or Mac, and add it to the delayed baggage report in the United application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the report is submitted, United's authorized customer service agents will receive the Share Item Location link. This will allow them to view the location of the item on an interactive map. The map will be automatically updated as soon as the location changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For reasons of confidentiality and security, shared tracking is deactivated as soon as a customer has found their suitcase<\/strong>. It may be interrupted by the customer at any time and will automatically expire after seven days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
