The German group's stake in the transalpine carrier could rise to 49% by 2029. The transaction has become effective <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/feu-vert-lufthansa-ita-20240703.html\/\"><strong>following the green light from the European Commission<\/strong> the takeover of ITA by Lufthansa<\/a> last November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From now on, the Lufthansa Group will be able to fully integrate ITA into its multi-brand and multi-hub development strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rome-fiumicino-renforce\">Rome-Fiumicino reinforced<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\" <em>We are proud to finally welcome ITA Airways to the Lufthansa Group. <\/em>describes <strong>Carsten Spohr, CEO of Lufthansa<\/strong>. \"<em> Thanks to our investment, <strong>we're going to strengthen the Italian and European aviation markets<\/strong> and the Lufthansa Group's position as number one in Europe. <strong>Our passengers around the world will benefit from improved services and optimised connections<\/strong> as of the next summer programme\".<\/em>he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In practical terms, Italy has become a new 'home market' for the Lufthansa group. <strong>The country is already the company's second largest international market.<\/strong> after the United States, outside the existing domestic markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/ita-trenitalia-fiumicino-intermodalite-20230428.html\/\"><strong>Rome Fiumicino airport <\/strong><\/a>will position itself as<strong> the group's sixth hub and its southernmost hub<\/strong>. <strong>Milan Linate<\/strong>&nbsp;will also assert its role by serving the EU's second largest catchment area, northern Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-integration-rapide-a-star-alliance\">Rapid integration into Star Alliance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Very quickly, <strong>ITA Airways frequent flyers<\/strong> and those of the Lufthansa group will be able to <strong>collect their points or miles<\/strong> <strong>either in the ITA Airways \"Volare\" programme or in Miles &amp; More<\/strong>the Lufthansa Group's frequent flyer programme. It is highly likely that Volare will eventually be replaced by Miles &amp; More.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ITA passengers will also be able to use the Lufthansa lounges and vice versa. <strong>The Italian airline to join the Star Alliance<\/strong> and leave Skyteam as a result. The system of connections and joint flights will be optimised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ITA Airways, the successor to the historic carrier Alitalia, is equipped with <strong>an all-Airbus fleet of 99 aircraft<\/strong>. <strong>This includes 22 long-haul aircraft<\/strong> A350-900, A330-900neo and A330-200.
