Let's start with what air traffic represents at London<\/strong>. Last year, thehe British capital confirmed its European leadership in the number of passengers handled at its airports: 177.679 million.<\/strong>. Heathrow airport alone generates 47.18% of all passengers registered at London's five airports. Last year, its traffic exceeded that of the pre-Covid period, with 83.835 million passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is followed by Gatwick<\/strong> with 43.248 million (24.34% market share), Stansted<\/strong> 29.76 million (16.74%), Luton<\/strong> with 16.736 million (9.42%) and the City Airport<\/strong> with over 4.1 million passengers (2.32% market share).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such a high density of airports is much appreciated by the business community. According to a survey by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, four out of five London decision-makers agree that air connectivity is important for London's global competitiveness (83 %)<\/strong>international trade (82 %), the London economy as a whole (82 %) and establishing and maintaining international trade relations (79 %).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outlook for demand is considered to be very favourable. London's airports are therefore preparing to welcome more than 250 million potential passengers.<\/strong> over the next decade. Including 140 million for Heathrow airport alone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
