Business hotels in Europe's major metropolises have undergone a boom in recent years.Moderate growth in both prices and visitor numbers<\/strong> in 2024. These are the findings of the business hotel barometer, designed by research firm MKG in partnership with hotel reservation specialist CDS Groupe. For 2023, the same barometer showed wide variations, between the post-pandemic recovery phase and the effects of inflation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In 2023, for example, the range of changes in visitor numbers was from almost -5 points in Istanbul to +15% in Prague, while the increase in the average price - including breakfast, the usual fare for business travellers - ranged from just 1% in two major German cities, Frankfurt and Munich, to 54% in Istanbul. And all of this via increases of around +10%<\/strong> as in Paris, Madrid and Amsterdam.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This year, then, the panorama is more uniform, marking an return to normal activity<\/strong>. Growth in passenger numbers is around 2 pts and the rise in average prices is between +2% - in Paris in particular - and +5% in most European destinations. A few exceptions confirm this rule, with Istanbul at +24%, while in Amsterdam and London the average price is down by 2%, and even more so in Geneva (-6%).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Among the cities where business travellers will find the most expensive hotels, Paris comes out on top<\/strong>This is particularly true of five-star establishments, where the average price was \u20ac679, ahead of London (\u20ac536) and, further behind, Istanbul (\u20ac407). This cannot be attributed to the Olympic Games effect, since the growth in rates for five-star Parisian establishments was only 2% over the year as a whole.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

But the French capital is also top of the league for mid-range hotel rates, with an average price of \u20ac170, just ahead of Amsterdam and London<\/strong>It is also second for four-star business hotels. In this segment, with an average rate of \u20ac272, Paris is second only to Istanbul (\u20ac286), but ahead of London (\u20ac252).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
