{"id":192767,"date":"2025-02-25T12:37:44","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T11:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=192767"},"modified":"2025-12-26T11:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T10:16:12","slug":"oag-increase-in-european-air-fares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/oag-increase-in-european-air-fares","title":{"rendered":"OAG puts a figure on the increase in air fares in Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bad news for travellers and good news for airline finance directors. <strong>The difficulties inherent in purchasing spare parts for aircraft (engines, for example) and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/aerien-ruptures-chaines-approvisionnement-20241211.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> delays in the delivery of equipment<\/a> make<\/strong> <strong>air fares are unlikely to fall significantly in Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a very conservative approach to increasing their capacity, most airlines should see their financial results improve compared with previous years. This is because it is to be expected that the<strong>he average ticket price in Europe remains high throughout the rest of the year<\/strong> estimates<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/oag-lignes-aeriennes-2024-20241224.html\/\"><strong> OAG<\/strong><\/a>. And with a slight drop in the price of a barrel of crude oil, it's a win-win situation for airlines!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-link-block\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/palmares-2025-oag-frequented-lines\/\" data-id=\"213651\">Top 2025 list: the busiest lines according to OAG<\/a><\/p><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-tarifs-s-envolent-sur-lufthansa-turkish-airlines-et-air-france\">Fares soar on Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Air France<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OAG notes that Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa are the two airlines that have significantly reduced their growth.<\/strong>. Their capacities will fall by 18.7% and 6.1% respectively. This translates into the biggest increases in ticket prices between the first quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025. <strong>Turkish fares up almost 25%, Lufthansa flirts with 17%<\/strong>. Turkish Airlines has been particularly hard hit by aircraft maintenance and repair problems. According to the latest fleet data compiled by OAG, 78 aircraft are currently inactive - representing 17% of the total fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Air France ranks third for fare increases, at +7.7%<\/strong> from one quarter to the next. And this despite the fact that the French carrier increased its capacity by 6.3%!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the ten airlines analysed by OAG, two reported a fall in capacity, while only one - Pegasus - reported a double-digit increase. In fact, <strong>low-cost airlines remain the most dynamic<\/strong>. Over the first quarter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/easyjet-plus-for-business-20250204.html\/\"><strong>easyJet<\/strong> <\/a>recorded an 8.4% increase in seat capacity, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/retrait-ryanair-taxe-europe-20250217.html\/\"><strong>Ryanair<\/strong> <\/a>flirted with a 7% increase in capacity. As a result, their tariffs fell by 2.96% and 5.43% respectively. On the other hand, the carrier <strong>Pegasus<\/strong> (Turkey) did not experience any price erosion.
