After initially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/amex-gbt-cwt-royaume-uni-fusion-20241107.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denounced the consequences of the operation<\/a> on the business travel agency market, the CMA is rethinking its plans. Last November, the British competition authority had dampened the ardour of the two protagonists. Arguing in particular that <strong>CWT <\/strong>to innovate and thus compete with its potential buyer. The United Kingdom then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/fusion-amex-gbt-cwt-revirement-20250218.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">changed its position in February<\/a>. The CMA today confirmed this position by finally authorising the merger between the two TMCs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-varenne-quote\"><blockquote><p>CWT is a much weaker competitor than in the past and will probably continue to weaken in the future.<\/p><cite>Martin Coleman, Chairman of the CMA Investigation Group<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>The British authorities have downgraded CWT's strengths. Martin Coleman, chairman of the group of independent experts in charge of the enquiry, said: \" <em>Having considered all the evidence in detail during our investigation, we have concluded that, given CWT's weaker position in the corporate travel market and the alternatives available, this transaction should be cleared.<\/em> \".
