US President Donald Trump's posturing towards Canada<\/strong><\/a> has led to a widespread boycott. It ranges from Canadian consumers refusing to buy American to the outright cancellation of trips to the neighbour to the south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airlines are logically drawing the consequences. Like Air Canada<\/a><\/strong>who has just published an exhaustive list of air routes to the United States on which it is reducing its capacity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These frequency reductions are gradual. But at the end of July, seat capacity will be down by more than 8% compared with the winter timetable<\/strong>. This means 162,667 seats at the end of July, compared with 177,101 at the end of February. On the other hand, the number of flights<\/strong> remains more or less stable, since it decreased by only 2.3%<\/strong> flights from Canadian airports. This means 1,422 weekly one-way flights, compared with 1,456 flights in mid-February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In detail, reductions are effective from Montreal to 9 destinations, Toronto to 16 destinations and Vancouver to 4 cities<\/strong> of the United States<\/strong>. And contrary to what you might imagine from Europe, these frequency reductions also affect major American business centres<\/strong>. In addition to the 'sun destinations' so popular with Canadians until recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montreal sees sharp fall in number of seats to Boston<\/a>Chicago and Fort Lauderdale<\/strong>. Capacity is also reduced towards Los Angeles, Miami, New York-LaGuardia, Orlando, San Diego and San Francisco<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Toronto,<\/strong> ldrastically reduced capacity to Chicago, Cleveland, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and Orlando<\/strong>. In addition to these 7 cities, Air Canada is also reducing capacity on Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Fort Myers, New York-LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, St. Louis and Washington-Dulles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, at Vancouver, seat capacity is down on Chicago, Houston and Miami<\/strong> while the summer service on Washington Dulles<\/strong> is simply cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three additional weekly flights to Paris-Toronto<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Air Canada announces capacity increases at Paris CDG<\/strong>. The company adds three weekly frequencies to Toronto<\/strong>. They will be available between 16 June and 1 September 2025. This will bring to 10 weekly flights on this route<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new frequencies will start every Monday, Thursday and Sunday<\/strong> with a mid-afternoon flight for a late afternoon arrival in Toronto in a Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner equipped with three classes of service. Air Canada is also operating 14 weekly flights to Montreal this summer.<\/strong>. The carrier also offers 4 flights a week to Lyon-Montreal<\/strong> and on Toulouse-Montr\u00e9al<\/strong>.
