Accor is now one of the hotel groups with the strongest presence in Amsterdam. How do you explain this extensive portfolio in the city?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Erwin Van Der Graff -<\/strong> First and foremost through our presence in Amsterdam since the 1970s. In more than 50 years, we have managed to expand our portfolio to 25 hotels, including the airport establishments. This makes us both the city's largest operator<\/strong> with 5,500 rooms in total, but also the one with the largest number of brands, with 13 coming this summer, with the arrival of the Handwritten Collection through the opening of the Grand Canal Boutique Hotel Amsterdam. A Mama Shelter is also expected to open. by 2027<\/a>. Our offer covers the whole spectrum, from luxury with Sofitel Legend and MGallery to lifestyle with The Hoxton and Tribe, via our premium brands M\u00f6venpick and Swiss\u00f4tel and our historic brands Novotel, Mercure and Ibis, to long stays with Adagio.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Is it an advantage to already have a large number of hotels on offer, when the city is limiting hotel development to avoid overtourism?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

E. V. d. G. - <\/strong>That's right. There aren't many new construction projects in Amsterdam as a result of the moratorium introduced several years ago. But that doesn't mean that no new hotels will be opened. When the moratorium was introduced, around 6,000 new rooms had already been planned and permits granted. Hotels will continue to open<\/strong>These include the Maritim, the Rosewood and other smaller projects. On the other hand, the towns on the outskirts of Amsterdam do not fall under Amsterdam's jurisdiction and can still accommodate new establishments, for example Amstelveen or the area around Schiphol airport, which is only ten minutes or so from the centre of Amsterdam.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

How do your hotels break down their business and leisure travel?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

E. V. d. G. - <\/strong>It's about 50-50, a balanced mix that also explains why our offer is so diversified. If tourism is down, the corporate segment is there to compensate. If companies are in trouble, tourism is always there. Amsterdam is a prime market <\/strong>and that's why every hotelier wants to be here. The city benefits from a number of advantages, including the strength of its airport - the third largest in Europe - the quality of its TGV connections, its capacity to host trade fairs and events and, of course, its UNESCO-listed historic centre and its world-class museums. And it's a small city, with fewer than a million inhabitants, where everything can be done on foot or by bike, or even by public transport, without even having to take a taxi, making it very easy to visit. This is probably one of the keys to its success.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
