The success of the Leman Express, or LEx, continues unabated. To mark the fifth anniversary of this Franco-Swiss cross-border rail network, the creation of a seventh line was announced on 12 June. This is very good news for business travellers who have to catch a plane at Geneva airport, as it will<\/span> will directly link Geneva airport at Annemasse<\/strong>without passing through Geneva Cornavin station. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new line, the L7, will enter service in December,<\/strong> during the changeover to the 2025-2026 winter timetable. To achieve this, the trains will use part of the track previously reserved for goods trains, in particular the Chatelaine tunnel. Like the other lines, this L7 will be managed by L\u00e9manis, the joint venture between SNCF and CFF, the Swiss railways.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

80,000 passengers a day<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Opening in December 2019, the Leman Express now serves 45 stations<\/strong> and covers a 230 km rail network between the cantons of Vaud and Geneva in Switzerland and the departments of Ain and Haute-Savoie in France. More than 77 million passengers have been carried since it opened, with 80,000 now using the line every day, rising to 50,000 by 2022. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
