American Express GBT is strengthening its data base concerning the carbon emissions of hotels used by business travellers. Already a partner of the start-up Chooose<\/a>selected by TMC to enhance the carbon footprint reporting of flights offered to its customers, Amex GBT is extending this partnership with the integration of hotel-related functionalities. From the third quarter of this year, customers will have access to more accurate data<\/strong> and wider global coverage following a major update of its calculations and reports on hotel emissions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Whereas the aviation component was based on recognised methodologies in the sector, including those of ICAO, BEIS (UK), EPA (USA) and ADEME, Chooose's hotel data is based on the industry standard methodology, the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative (HCMI), all from a variety of sources. Customers will have the flexibility to choose from a range of emission factor providers, including the UK BEIS and Greenview's data set, which includes emissions factors covering around 250 countries <\/strong>and 240 metropolitan areas.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
