The clock ticks on the Jetstar Asia<\/strong><\/a>. The airline, a low-cost subsidiary of Qantas, announced at the beginning of June that it was closing its Asian branch in Singapore after two decades. The reasons given were too much competition in the region and the increasingly high cost of operating a base in Singapore. As a result, there was no profitability on the horizon, either in the short or long term. Jetstar Asia will therefore officially cease its last flights on 31 July.<\/strong>in two days' time. The carrier still offers flights to 12 destinations in eight countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

One man's misfortune is another man's gain, its competitor Scoot, a low-cost offshoot of Singapore Airlines, has announced that it is working on increasing the density of its routes<\/strong> in South-East Asia, particularly Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Indonesia and Vietnam will benefit most from the airline opening or taking over routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October and November, Scoot announced the launch of flights from Singapore to Danang<\/strong>Vietnam's third most populous city, and towards Nha Trang<\/strong>a major seaside resort. Scoot will start with three flights a week to Danang before increasing to a daily flight in December. To Nha Trang, the airline will start with two flights a week before increasing to 5 flights a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Indonesia, Scoot plans to serve Medan, the largest city on the island of Sumatra, as well as Labuan Bajo in Flores.<\/strong> However, no date has been given. On the other hand, the company has stated that it will inaugurate two flights a week from November to Kota Bharu<\/strong> on the east coast of Malaysia. And would also like to land in Okinawa in Japan<\/strong> but is awaiting traffic rights.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
