Mama Shelter is continuing its international expansion by transporting its offbeat lifestyle spirit to Cape Town in southern Africa. This is a first for the continent, while we await the opening of a hotel in Casablanca. The Mama Shelter Cape Town Hotel and Residences, located on Bree Street, a trendy thoroughfare in the heart of the business district, is part of the conversion of an emblematic building in the city, City Park, which formerly housed the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital. On the programme for this Mama in the antipodes: 127 rooms and 62 residences, three restaurants and a rooftop swimming pool with a view of Table Mountain, as well as a coworking space. In another first, the luxury lifestyle brand Edition, launched by Ian Schrager and the Marriott Group, has found a prime location for its debut in Africa with one of the continent's most visited locations, Cape Town's V&A Waterfront. This former port area, which has been transformed into a living space since the 1990s, continues to expand, notably through the Granger Bay development project, in which the future hotel will be located. In addition to six private residences, Cape Town EDITION will offer 142 rooms and suites, an upscale restaurant offering including a rooftop bar, as well as a swimming pool and event spaces.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Saudi Arabia is one of the favourite new playgrounds for hotel groups, with almost all of them opening more and more hotels. Accor is no exception, with projects including the Sofitel Riyadh Hotel & Convention Centre. As its name suggests, this hotel is aimed primarily at business customers, offering them one of Riyadh's largest convention centres, with 17 meeting and event rooms, including the immense Princess Nouf ballroom, which can accommodate banquets for 2,600 people and 3,600 participants in theatre format. Located in the heart of the Saudi capital, in the Ar Rahmaniyyah district, this luxury hotel also has 388 rooms and an exclusive Club Sofitel lounge. It also boasts four restaurants and a spa with four indoor pools.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Hilton will also have a new luxury hotel in Riyadh in 2026, with a Conrad under construction in the fast-developing Laysen Valley area, one of the Saudi capital's flagship developments. In close proximity to the diplomatic quarter and not far from the business district, the Conrad Riyadh Laysen Valley will offer travellers 170 rooms, seven meeting rooms, in addition to an indoor swimming pool and several dining options.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Luxury and lifestyle in the heart of the King Abdullah Financial District. The W Hotels brand, part of the Marriott group, is coming to the Saudi capital with its contemporary DNA, symbolised by the presence in the hotel of its signature design space W Lounge, for a total of four dining venues, accompanied by a swimming pool for relaxation and, on the accommodation side, 210 rooms and suites.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Radisson Collection Residence, Riyadh (beginning of year)<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Located in the Al Mutamarat district, on King Fahad Road, this new establishment in the Radisson Collection is aimed at business travellers on long stays in the Saudi capital, with its 170 residential flats, including eight penthouses and four exclusive villas. Crowned by a rooftop swimming pool, the hotel is housed in a new tower that embodies the new architectural trend advocated by the country's authorities, the Salmani style, combining modernity and traditional elements, with patios and moucharabiehs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Red Palace (later this year)<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

It was the very first concrete building in Riyadh, built in 1943 to welcome Prince and future King Saud bin Abdulaziz, before becoming the home of the Council of Ministers from 1957 until the 1990s, and then housing the Grievance Commission until 2002. The Saudi hotel operator Boutique Group, launched at the behest of King Mohammed bin Salman, has undertaken to transform this historic site, recognisable by its red fa\u00e7ade with Art Deco influences, into an exclusive boutique hotel with 70 rooms, including 44 suites. The Aedas studio for the architecture and designer Tristan Auer for the interiors are just some of the big names involved in this heritage makeover. Dotted with gardens and patios, the Red Palace will offer five dining venues, a spa and seven event rooms, in a place that used to host state banquets.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Accor group will be doing double duty this year in Saudi Arabia's second largest city. Almost triple, in fact, as the Raffles Jeddah will comprise two towers, one 48 storeys high housing private residences and the other 142 rooms and 40 suites, as well as three restaurants and lounges, a spa and generous reception areas, including a function room of almost 1,300 m\u00b2. Overlooking the Corniche, this luxury hotel, due to open at the beginning of the year, will be accompanied at the end of the year by the SO\/Jeddah, which will embody its fashionable spirit through its 147 rooms with their distinctive design, as well as trendy dining areas in the image of Filia, the brand's signature culinary destination.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
