A convention and exhibition centre in the city centre, just a few minutes by metro from the station, in a booming destination - and next to the Stade V\u00e9lodrome - the Parc Chanot has great ambitions for the MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Convention, Events) industry in France and well beyond. The arrival of a leading event manager such as GL events, via its subsidiary Marseille events, should enable Marseille Chanot to take on a new dynamic and a new dimension. Interview with Pierre Arvis, Managing Director of Marseille events.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marseille events has been managing Parc Chanot since 1 January 2025. Can you tell us about the background to this takeover?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pierre Arvis -<\/strong> We won the DSP (D\u00e9l\u00e9gation de Service Public - Public Service Delegation) and have effectively been managing Parc Chanot since 1 January 2025. Within Marseille events, we are partners: 75% for GL events and 25% for the CCI Aix-Marseille Provence. Our objective is obviously to relaunch Parc Chanot, or at any rate to boost business tourism and events, whether conferences or trade fairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea, we imagine, is to create a new dynamic, with new investments...<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pierre Arvis -<\/strong> Exactly. The new investments are part of the specifications. It's also a question of legitimising the location of Parc Chanot in the city centre, because this could sometimes be questioned. We have the immense advantage of this location, with its proximity to the metro and now the tramway. For business tourism, whether it's a trade show for the general public or for professionals, it's a huge advantage, especially at a time when CSR and the carbon footprint of events are coming under increasing scrutiny. Knowing that your exhibitors, delegates and visitors will be able to get here by metro is a considerable advantage! But it also means that, being in the city centre, we have to show that we are developing business and making good use of the space we have been given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
