Year on year, the Clef Verte label continues to expand among professionals committed to more responsible tourism. This year, the number of hotels, residences and other tourist accommodation solutions, including campsites, self-catering cottages and youth hostels, has passed the 3,000 mark. After a growth of 45% last year, already symbolising a significant acceleration, this momentum is continuing with a further increase of 25% in the number of establishments awarded this international environmental label, known outside France as Green Key. Of the more than 8,000 establishments awarded the label in 90 countries, 3,035 are in France, including 2,026 hotels and 358 tourist residences.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Rolled out in France by the Teragir association, the labelling process examines more than a hundred criteria, drawing accommodation operators into a virtuous circle. While the label will focus on water efficiency in 2026, in view of the increasing number of episodes of water stress during the summer holiday period, all the establishments awarded the label will save around 3.8 billion litres of water, with an average avoided consumption of 50 litres of water per night.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The fact that the new awards will be unveiled in Strasbourg at a ceremony on 22 January is no coincidence.
