It's an idea that could well appeal to incentive event organisers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travellers who knew the People's Republic of Poland, the former official name given to Poland during the Communist era, will probably remember the nightmare of a train journey: worn-out carriages, delays, and an average speed of 80 km\/h due to under-investment by the state at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But today, this era on the rails is tinged with nostalgia. In fact, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the \"passages\" branch, Polish railways PKP Intercity are launching \"Nie\u015bpieszny\" (\"no hurry\" in Polish).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-la-recherche-du-temps-perdu\">In search of lost time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept invites passengers to travel through Poland in a leisurely fashion, stepping back in time on board a train from the 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The carriages, the uniforms and even the menus offered in the restaurant carriage are all reminiscent of that era, with compartment interiors in \"subtle\" shades of orange. As for the on-board menu, it will serve culinary specialities from the era - you'll have to remember that there was rather a shortage at the time. Like \u017curek (sour rye soup), a traditional Polish soup made from fermented rye flour. Or bread accompanied by bacon and sour gherkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PKP Intercity is planning some 40 weekend journeys during the high season. With sales due to start this month, the first trains will begin their journey on 17 April.
